Alex barely had any impression of Vivian.
"That's right." Owen nodded. "Ms. Grayson was a mischievous child. Just a week after your birthday, her entire family immigrated to Riveria. I'll ask around and see if the Grayson family acted strangely that day."
Alex nodded. Owen turned and left while Alex pulled out his phone. After a long moment of hesitation, he finally dialed Vivian's number.
"Hello?" A crisp, sweet voice came through the receiver. "Who is this?"
"It's me," Alex said. "Alex Hastings."
"Alex Hastings?" Vivian's voice was filled with shock and excitement. "Al, I thought you'd forgotten about me! Why did you suddenly call me?"
"I just happened to remember that we used to play together as kids. But we lost touch after growing up. Why is that?" Alex kept his tone patient, hoping to get some useful information.
"Uh... Well..." Vivian hesitated for a while before finally speaking. "My family sent me abroad to study."
"Why so suddenly?" Alex pressed further.
"Who knows what my dad was thinking?" Vivian answered hastily, shifting the topic. "But Al, why are you looking for me all of a sudden? You have no idea how bad the food is here and how hard it is to sleep. I miss home so much! But most of all, I miss you.
"Since I was little, I've written your name in my notebooks every single day. It feels like if I do that, you will always be by my side."
Vivian rambled on, making it clear how much she liked him.
