[GLOBAL PRIME LOGISTICS: CEO’S OFFICE]
Stephen held his hands together before his mouth, his expression stern and deep in thought. When his eyes fell on the documents before him, he shook his head.
"I don’t think there’s anything more that I haven’t covered yet."
Perhaps this was the first time Stephen didn’t think of anything else the entire day except work. In the past several days, he hadn’t been able to function properly. Even if he tried, he would just end up worrying and drowning in anxiety.
But today, he didn’t have such thoughts. Charles had called to give him a heads-up. It would be too embarrassing for Stephen to fall so easily once Atlas launched his first attack as part of the "revenge" scheme. Knowing Atlas, that man was the most vengeful person Stephen had met; he was worse than his father, Charles.
"Those two are just the same," Stephen grumbled, thinking of other things he might not have checked. "I don’t want to fight them like this."
His face crumpled as it soured, admitting to himself that fighting Atlas or Charles like he used to was safer than having them as real enemies. No matter how much Stephen denied it, this company wouldn’t have reached its current height if not for Charles and then Atlas.
"If I were Atlas or Charles... what would I do if I were the one who got kicked out?" he wondered to himself, asking that question a hundred times today. After a minute, Stephen grumbled in distress, ruffling his hair in irritation.
"I can’t go home yet! There’s still so much to cover!" he lamented, working ten times harder than he ever had for the past several years. After all, with Atlas at the helm, everyone’s work had lightened with his efficient ways of running the company.
"For the first time, I have to admit, having Atlas here is actually better," he hissed. "Damn it!"
It wasn’t late, but Stephen was already certain he would be spending the rest of his night working and figuring out what kind of retaliation Charles and his children would make. If Charles gave him a heads-up, that meant it could happen anytime soon.
It could be now, tonight, or in a few days. Even so, Stephen wanted to put up a good fight. In a way, he also wanted to find out something.
If Stephen were given the chance to be the head of the Bennet Family, would he do it just as well as Charles?
He was curious.
Did Chairman Bennet make his decision out of logic and the company’s interest? Or was it just out of favoritism toward his own son?
They would all find out soon. freeweɓnovel.cѳm
