When William walked out of the room, Allen, who had been waiting patiently, couldn’t help but rush to Atlas.
"Sir!" Allen’s eyes were glowing as he clasped his hands in front of him. "Wow... I can’t believe my boss is now the COO of Pierson Corporation."
"I passed the interview."
Allen’s twinkling eyes dimmed slightly, and he scrunched up his nose. But then he shook his head and grinned happily.
"Congrats, sir. Hehe!" Allen giggled. "I’m really happy for you."
"Why are you happy for me?" Atlas returned flatly. "I got demoted."
"Eh?"
"I used to be the CEO. Now I’m only second in command."
But this is Pierson Corporation! Global Prime Logistics could just be their subsidiary!
"..." Allen opened and closed his mouth, and in the end, he covered his ears, shaking his head in disbelief while repeating, "This is a happy occasion. Don’t listen to him. He’s a pessimist, and I’m an optimist. I should influence him, not the other way around." freewebnøvel.com
Atlas’s under-eye twitched, shaking his head before walking past Allen. ’He’s probably just realizing how bad this demotion is.’
Not thinking much about what Allen’s problem was, Atlas stopped a few steps from where Zoren was sitting.
"What are you still doing here?" he asked, watching Zoren lift his eyes to him. "You should cut your screen time. It’s not good for your eyes."
"I’m checking the news," Zoren replied as he rose from his seat. "Have you heard from Penny?"
"Not yet. I’ll give her a call after this. Has she reached out to you yet?"
"No. She’s still busy, I guess."
"I see." Atlas rocked his head, smacking his lips. "Then, since today’s job interview is done, I’m leaving."
"Huh? Sir Atlas, aren’t you staying to check your office? The ceremony is tomorrow, so we’re going to rush your office design based on your liking," Benjamin chimed in, blinking innocently.
Atlas tipped his head in Allen’s direction. "Take him with you. He knows my preferences. I have to be somewhere else today."
"Oh." Benjamin nodded, while Allen furrowed his brows. He asked, "Sir, don’t tell me you got another job offer and you’re going to continue the job hunt?"
"Sadly, no one is interested in me as much as you think," Atlas casually set his eyes on Zoren. "I’ll be back tomorrow — and stop looking at your phone."
Zoren nodded, signaling Benjamin to walk Atlas out. Allen darted his eyes between the retreating Atlas and Zoren, who was staying. In the end, Allen jumped up and followed his boss and Benjamin.
"I wonder why no one gave him an offer? Even if I’m not married to his sister, I would definitely send him an offer if he gets kicked out of Global Prime," Zoren wondered, sitting down again. "I won’t be using my phone later, so I guess he won’t scold me for using it for a little bit more."
[To: Penny
My love, my life, is everything alright? First Brother will officially start tomorrow.]
After sending that message, Zoren stared at the chat log. He waited for Penny to type something, but his message was left on read.
"Is she really that busy?" he wondered to himself, tilting his head to the side. "Should I visit her?"
Just as Zoren was weighing his options, since he had no other business today aside from this meeting, his phone rang. Even before he could see the full name of the caller, he grabbed it and answered.
"Hey," he smiled in relief, leaning back comfortably as he held the phone to his ear. "How’s everything in there?"
"Well." Penny shrugged. "Some things came up, but it’s alright."
"Are you okay?"
"Oh, yes! Haha! Don’t worry! The problem isn’t that big. It’s just that I realized the problem was too big for Stephen Bennet to handle. I can’t let him drown overnight, can I? So, I have to adjust to some things."
