Knock knock.
Penny’s pen paused mid-stroke as the faint knock reached her ears. When the door opened, she raised her head to see Yugi sticking his head inside.
"Penny, you’ve got a visitor," he announced. "It’s Finn Davis. I’m letting him in."
"Uh..." Deep lines formed between her brows as her nose scrunched up. Before she could respond, Yugi had already closed the door and left. "Shouldn’t he ask me whether to let him in or not first instead of deciding on his own?"
Her face soured briefly, but she let it go. Moments later, another knock came at the door. When it opened and revealed Finn, Penny pushed herself up from her swivel chair.
"Mr. Davis!" she exclaimed, walking over to greet him. "I didn’t expect your visit today. Come in."
"I’m sorry for dropping in on such short notice," Finn said politely, stopping in front of her. "How are you, Penelope?"
"I wasn’t the one who got into an accident and fell into a coma, so I’m okay," she quipped, smirking. "You? Recovering well?"
"Getting better," he replied. "Just a bit more rest and I’d be out and about again."
"I’m glad to hear that, but as someone with a bit of medical knowledge, you shouldn’t be driving around the city to meet people if recovering quickly is your goal. Take it easy, Finn Davis. Your recovery should be your priority. How can you protect others if you can’t protect yourself?"
Finn gave a subtle smile and nodded. "I appreciate that, but I’m not driving around the city for business. The only time I go out is to bring Nina’s lunch—she seems to forget it lately."
"Ah..." Penny nodded knowingly before smacking her lips and motioning her arm toward the set of couches. "Take a seat."
"Thank you."
"What do you want?" she asked as they moved to the seating area. "Tea? Juice? Coffee? I don’t have alcohol, but I do have milk. Same thing."
Penny casually plopped down on an armchair while Finn perched on the sofa. "Just pick one. Don’t be shy."
"Thank you, but that’s not necessary," he said. "Though, if you have a secretary, water would be fine."
"Having a secretary is a bit of a hassle. Although, I’m reconsidering."
"Is time the issue? If you asked Benjamin Vitt, I’m sure he could find you a suitable one."
"Time is part of it, but honestly, I just don’t trust anyone enough to let them know all my business."
"That’s fair."
"Enough with the small talk, Mr. Davis." Penny’s tone shifted from playful and welcoming to serious. "Why are you here? You wouldn’t drive all the way to my office for no reason. Spill it. I don’t have all day for chit-chat."
