Back in the day, Patricia was always all over her big brother. She would do anything just to be praised by him, and Theo was always generous with his compliments. Patricia even worked hard in school just to be placed in the top section like him. Even though her efforts never yielded results, she still tried her best—even if it meant bullying Ginnie.
Her methods weren’t right, but she did it to impress her brother.
In her eyes, Theo was the best. Not only was he smart, but he was also a caring brother. He was always there for her, helping her with problems she struggled with. And to top it off, Theo was at the top of his class without even trying.
Everything changed when Patricia saw him struggling in the Star Section. The cool, effortless Theo started showing signs of distress just to maintain his rank, and it shattered the perfect image she had of him. The breaking point in their relationship came when Theo finally gave up and begged their parents to let him study abroad. At the time, Patricia had just started making friends again.
To her, it felt like he was ruining everything for her after being exposed as a "fraud."
That was what she made herself believe for the longest time. But now, after everything she had been through, she realized how wrong she had been to blame him. Theo may have struggled, and he may not have been the effortless genius she once thought, but he had always been the same caring brother. That part of him never changed.
And now, as she stood before him, her heart ached.
"I... missed us," she breathed out, her lips quivering, tears streaming down her cheeks. "I’m sorry." freewebnσvel.cѳm
Those were the only words she could manage before her breath hitched. She sucked in her cheeks, trying to keep a brave front, but her courage was crumbling fast.
Theo furrowed his brows, watching his sister cry. "Patricia," he whispered, the irritation and anger from moments ago vanishing completely. All that remained was the deep worry in his eyes as he placed his hands on her shoulders, lowering his head slightly to look at her properly.
"Why are you crying?" he asked gently. "Hey, did something happen?"
Knowing his sister, there was no way she was saying this out of nowhere. Patricia had hated him for years, blaming him for everything. Something must have happened to change her mind.
His eyes scanned her face up close, searching for any sign of distress, but Patricia just bit her quivering lips. Then, with a deep breath, she slapped his hands away and threw herself into his arms.
"I’m apologizing, you dummy!" she cried, wrapping her arms around him. "I said I was sorry! I miss us—our bond, our relationship, everything that I ruined!"
She sucked in another deep breath, and with it, everything she had been holding back came pouring out.
