Chapter 1213: Call it luck

"I already fixed our route, so we’ll land where we’re supposed to. As for these two... time to wake them up and ask whose brilliant idea it was to make a detour."

As soon as Penny said that, she flicked the captain’s nose to wake him up.

"A detour?" Atlas muttered under his breath, confused. "What are you saying?"

"Call it luck — our luck being on our side today or just these guys’ luck is just bad that we are here. When we came in here, I smelled something. It took me a while to recognize the scent; it’s the smell of bullshit," she said, glancing back at him. "I confirmed it when I sat down and listened to the memos in the headphones. Of course, you didn’t hear them because they were on mute."

For a moment, Atlas was stunned. Thinking back, Penny had pressed a lot of buttons when she sat down and "pretended" to maneuver the craft. At the time, it seemed like she was just playing around, but only now did he realize she had something else in mind.

"They want us to make an emergency landing since we’re way off our original route, but there’s no safe place to land out here. So, I already told those guys in the tower that we’re heading to Anteca. If we keep going straight, our fuel should last," she explained calmly, flicking the pilot’s nose again. "Assuming my calculations are correct."

"’Assuming your calculations are correct’? You mean to say you’re not sure?"

Penny smirked and looked back at him. "I wonder... am I crying Wolf for fun, or is there really a pack waiting to eat the sheep?"

"..."

"Anyway!" She cleared her throat and flicked the pilot’s nose again. This time, his brows twitched. Another flick jolted him awake.

"Shh, shh!"

Knowing he would panic, Penny placed a hand on his chest and a finger over his mouth. "Shhh. It’s fine, it’s fine. It’s just me, you, your unconscious co-pilot, and my jerk of a brother. So, no need to panic."

The pilot’s breath hitched, his chest rising and falling rapidly. His eyes dilated as he stared at the very person who had knocked him unconscious.

"I will report this," he blurted out, his voice defensive. "Even if this is a private aircraft, what you’re doing is illegal."

"Oh?" Penny cocked her head to the side. "That’s interesting. I mean, hijacking a plane is already bad, but I still did it. Yet, here you are, threatening me; the very person who hijacked this plane. What makes you think I won’t just throw you out of this craft to shut you up?"

"..." The pilot held his breath, watching her flutter her eyelashes innocently.

"This is exactly why people die in thriller and horror movies, you know? Instead of trying to survive, they just say or do something incredibly stupid," she continued, slapping his shoulder. He flinched. "Don’t worry. I’m not going to do that... unless you test my patience. And let me tell you, my patience isn’t long. It’s about as short as a worm... or my toe."

She paused and tilted her head, raising her brows. "Do you understand what I’m saying?" She pressed a finger against his chest. "Do. Not. Test. The waters. You have no idea what’s in it."

The pilot exhaled shakily and nodded. He understood. Not that he had much choice.

"Now, onto more important questions. Care to tell me where you were planning to take this aircraft?" she asked with a smile, tilting her head slightly. "As far as I know, Anteca is our destination. This detour isn’t just to avoid traffic—it’s a completely different direction."

"You... how did you...?"
