The man’s eyes widened in horror as he held his breath. Looking up, he saw Penny’s body inching back inside. It wasn’t abrupt, but he knew that if this continued, they would all be pulled back in for sure. He understood that just clinging on would only drain their energy, so their best option was to use that energy to pull themselves back up.
"No!" the man yelled, yanking Atlas’s ankle down. "No! You can’t"
The man, using every bit of his strength, took advantage of his position to add more weight to Atlas. He couldn’t let them pull him up. He could just let go, but he wouldn’t go down that easily. Hence, he resorted to any sort of means to slow them down or just drag all of them down with him. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
"Shit!" Hugo cursed through gritted teeth as the tug affected him as well. "That bastard...! Zoren!"
"I’m trying!" Zoren yelled back, refusing to let the man’s actions shake him. "Forget about you and Penny... I’m going to grind him into powder."
Zoren kept a firm grip on Penny’s leg, pulling her back in while Hugo steadied his other arm. Just like Hugo, Penny, and Atlas, Zoren was filled with rage. Taking Atlas hostage was one thing, hijacking the plane was another. But this?
That man had just signed himself up for hell.
Not only had he endangered Atlas—his brother, his family—but he had also put Zoren’s wife’s life on the line. Unforgivable.
"Enough!" Atlas yelled. "Stop—ahhh!"
Penny’s eyes widened as Atlas screamed. The man was climbing up his leg—biting into his calf. Atlas’s grip loosened, and Penny instinctively held on to him tighter.
"You—" she clenched her teeth, her stomach pressing against the edge of the opening. "I’m going to kill you!"
"Ahhh—!" Atlas gritted his teeth and looked up at Penny. "Keep pulling!!!"
His voice rang across the sky, followed by Zoren and Hugo’s shouts as they used every ounce of their strength. Their anger fueled their efforts, and little by little, they felt progress.
"More!" Hugo yelled as his body shifted further back inside. "More!"
"More!" Zoren echoed, locking eyes with his wife. "Penny! Try pulling First Brother!"
"I’m trying!" she shouted back, now able to brace her chest against the floor. "First Brother!"
Atlas, drawing from his reserves, pulled himself up as best he could.
"Can you climb onto me?!" Penny asked.
Atlas shook his head. "I can’t with him on my foot!"
"Tch!" Penny clicked her tongue and redoubled her efforts. As she did, she felt herself moving back with Zoren’s and Hugo’s support. But just as they started making real progress—
The plane shook violently.
"Kyah!" Penny yelped as she slid out again. Just moments ago, her chest was on solid ground, but now she was slipping back into the open air. Another tug stopped her descent, but she could feel herself teetering on the edge.
"Fuck!" Hugo shouted, feeling the sweat building between his palm and Zoren’s skin. If not for his braced position, he would have slid as well. "Again!"
Time wasn’t just their enemy—it was their draining strength and slippery grips. Hugo, without hesitation, pulled again.
"Ugh...!" he grunted, forcing himself to push past the fatigue.
He had faced adversity many times. Some days, he had felt like giving up. But this?
This was not one of those days.
"Pull!!" he roared.
"Pull!!" Zoren echoed.
