Pampered by my three brothers: the return of the neglected heiress novel Chapter 1227

Chapter 1227: Blame all the men in my generation

Meanwhile...

"Yes, got it. Thanks. Miss Bennet already gave her approval, so let’s proceed to the next course of action." Grace stopped in front of a private ward, lowering her phone. As soon as she flashed the guards a smile, they moved aside to let her through. With that, Grace casually walked into Chairman Bennet’s ward.

Ever since the scheme for Chairman Bennet’s life emerged, this had become part of Grace’s routine. It wasn’t like she minded. She enjoyed spending time with him, and teasing him had become a great stress reliever. He always reminded her that she could control stress as well. After all, Chairman Bennet was often stressed for no reason or for every reason. This made her think that a person’s reaction to things and stress could be controlled.

"Chairman," she called softly as she entered, stopping when she saw someone seated across the room. Her eyebrows rose, and her eyes fell on the elegant middle-aged man reading a book with a cup of tea in front of him.

Slowly, Haines slid his eyes toward the corner and met her gaze. "Grace."

"I didn’t expect you to be here," she remarked, resuming her steps as she went straight to Chairman Bennet’s bedside. "I see he’s sleeping."

"He just had his medicine and fell asleep," said Haines in his usual calm tone. "Does he always sleep after taking medicine?"

Grace smiled. "I guess Penny was right."

"Hmm?"

"I met Penny earlier today, and Chairman Bennet came up in the conversation," she shared with a light laugh, fixing the blanket on the chairman’s bed. "She said I should marry into the family so someone would take care of him."

After all, such basic knowledge about the chairman should be known to the family. However, Haines seemed unaware. Not that Grace blamed them. Chairman Bennet’s behavior and life choices often pushed his family away, leading to irreparable misunderstandings.

Haines chuckled and nodded. "I don’t think that’s a bad idea at all."

"Haha."

"Atlas might be a good choice," he added, giving her a meaningful look. "...or not. That nephew of mine worries everyone with his lack of interest in... all of humanity. Perhaps, Hugo."

Grace laughed as she walked back to the couch, plopping down. "Atlas Bennet, huh? Are you trying to set me up with your nephews?"

"I’m not setting anyone up," Haines replied. "I don’t think I’m in the right position to do that. I’m just supporting Penny’s suggestions. It’s up to you to decide."

"Thank you for the suggestion, but... I don’t think any of your nephews pique my interest."

"Is that so?" Haines rocked his head slightly, glancing at her. "Good for you, then."

"I’m more interested in their uncle."
