[From: Crazy
Don’t tell me you’ve changed your mind and won’t be coming anymore. Tch. I knew it. You’re a coward! Forget it. Don’t show up if you’re going to be like this! Ginnie doesn’t deserve this!]
"Tch." Max threw his phone into the front passenger seat, gripping the steering wheel as he hunched over. He clenched his teeth, tightening his grip on the wheel. His heart was pounding in his chest, making his breathing slow and heavy.
It wasn’t that he didn’t want to come.
He wanted to! ’
If he didn’t, he wouldn’t have been sitting in this parking space for over an hour now.
But...
"I feel like I’m going to have a heart attack," he whispered, clutching his chest. "Ah, goodness."
This was a first for him.
All his life, Max never had to pursue a woman. With his status, women came to him, even when he didn’t want them to. Hence, his long list of exes. He never chased after anyone, nor had he ever felt this way about someone.
Except for this one.
He didn’t know when it started or how it happened. After all, he’d seen Ginnie from time to time, since she was managing another major league team while Max owned one. It was inevitable they’d run into each other.
But he knew the island trip had probably been the last straw. Was it her passion for the same sports he loved? Or was it because, unlike all the other women around him, Ginnie didn’t seem to care much? Was it her patience with Lily, or the genuine smiles she gave for the simplest things?
"This is that woman’s fault!" he grumbled, thinking these feelings had only been amplified by Lily’s devious whispers. "Ugh..."
Max ruffled his hair and cocked his head back. Keeping his hands on the steering wheel, he closed his eyes and took deep breaths. freewēbnoveℓ.com
"I am..." he whispered, reminding himself of who he was and what kind of person he was. "This is nothing. What’s there to be afraid of? What’s there to be ashamed of if I get rejected?"
He snapped his eyes open, determination shining in his gaze. "That’s right. Why am I getting nervous?"
What was there to lose?
All he had to do was confess and see how Ginnie reacted. Whatever her answer was, he would just have to accept it.
"That’s right," he muttered, nodding to himself. He glanced at the windshield, huffing in frustration. Max idled in the car for a moment before mustering enough courage to step out. As soon as he did, he walked to the backseat and opened the door.
There, in the backseat, was a bouquet.
"This is too much," he muttered, shaking his head. "Forget it."
With that thought in mind, Max waved dismissively and turned around. He slammed the door shut and walked toward the entrance of the nightclub. As soon as he stepped into the establishment, the loud music assaulted his ears.
Scanning the area, he quickly spotted Lily in a corner, chatting happily with a few guys. Max cleared his throat and started walking toward her, but as he walked, his eyes wandered.
He quickly caught sight of a table where Hugo, Ginnie, and another woman were seated.
"Huh?" he hummed, furrowing his brows as he observed the table.
