Meanwhile, just outside the gates of Zoren’s home, Finn and Nina pulled over.
"Hmm?" Nina hummed, lowering her window as she gazed through the gates. "It looks like there’s a party."
Finn, in the driver’s seat, leaned forward to look. From the gates, a long driveway led to the residence, but even from this distance, the lights and the figures near the entrance made it seem lively.
"This place is always lively," Finn muttered with a nod. "Even if it’s not a party, considering Penny lives here, there’s always something happening.
Nina chuckled, looking back at him. "Penny is fun."
"I don’t doubt it," he smiled back. "And seeing that there were cars parked in the driveway, it seems your brothers are also there too."
Just then, one of the guards stationed by the gate approached Nina’s side of the car. Seeing who was inside, he quickly lowered his head.
"Miss Nina!" The guard greeted Nina, familiar with Nina as she had stayed for a short while in the residence. Besides, Nina was so pretty that anyone could remember her easily. "It’s good to see you here again."
"Hello, good evening." Nina smiled, raising the wrapped food containers she was holding. "Could you hand this to Penny? Finn and I prepared something. It’s nothing much, but we hope she and Zoren will enjoy it. We even added extra so they can share with everyone."
"Miss Nina, you’re truly an angel!" The guard laughed as he accepted the trays. "I’ll let the Young Madam know you stopped by. Aren’t you coming in?"
Nina shook her head. "We just came to drop these off. After all, they gave us a lovely cake to enjoy." And, truthfully, Penny and Zoren’s unexpected visit the night before had helped them deal with their own situation.
"I see, I see. I’ll give this to Miss Penny right away."
"Thank you." Nina glanced briefly at the gates before asking, "By the way, is Penny throwing a party? It seems like everyone’s having fun, even at this hour."
The guard kept his smile, but Nina and Finn noticed the way it faltered, as if he were dying inside.
"It’s not exactly a party, but... well, you could say that—HAHA!" The guard let out a forced laugh, nearly choking. "Please don’t mind them. This house is always lively."
"I see," Nina said, nodding. She smacked her lips before adding, "Anyway, thank you. We’ll be on our way."
"Yes, take care."
With that, Finn started driving away as the guard saluted them. Nina rolled up her window, watching him walk back inside. ƒгeewёbnovel.com
"I wonder why he looked so distressed?" she murmured, glancing at Finn.
Finn simply shrugged. "Like we said, Penny is fun... but also chaotic. Whatever’s happening in there, I’m glad we didn’t go in."
"Well..." Nina hummed and shrugged. "It’s probably nothing serious."
"Right." Finn nodded, though he kept his thoughts to himself. His instincts told him it might not be serious—but definitely stressful.
