Chapter 1506: Zoren’s drama

"I stayed up late, and I feel so sleepy today," Penny yawned as she groggily forced herself to work.

One of Penny’s weaknesses was not getting enough sleep. Her body had been used to it in her first life, given her reckless lifestyle. But in this timeline, she made sure to take care of herself.

That included eating nutritious meals, doing full-body training to stay strong, and getting a full eight hours of sleep. Even with her wild nightly routine with her husband, the two of them stuck to that and still managed to get quality rest.

"I shouldn’t have bothered so much," she muttered, cheek squished against her palm as her eyes slowly drooped. "Should I take a short power nap?"

Since Penny had people in her department handling fifty percent of her usual workload, she could afford to be idle for a bit. Even so, would her mind allow her to sleep? Or was it just the work making her sleepy?

While Penny was wondering what to do, a knock came at the door.

"Huh?" She blinked and turned her eyes toward it. "Come in."

As the door opened, her brows knitted when she caught sight of Patricia peeking her head in.

Ugh, not again. I don’t have time for Patricia’s nonsense.

Much to her surprise, before she could even start lecturing, Hayley followed Patricia inside. Then came Shawn and Teddy.

"Huh?" She scrunched up her nose, only to sniff and catch a whiff of something... delicious. Her eyes dropped to their hands — Hayley was holding boxes of takeout, while Shawn and Teddy carried big plastic bags. "Uh... what are those?"

"Miss Penny, it’s already lunchtime, and we thought we’d invite you to eat!" Hayley said with a bright smile. "Would you like to have lunch with us?"

Shawn stepped forward, raising the plastic bags. "Boss, we bought some really warm soups from this old restaurant that serves authentic Antecan staples. Best to eat it while it’s still hot."

"I brought donuts!" Patricia grinned, raising the box proudly. "These sell like hotcakes — they’re that good."

Penny blinked once. Then twice. Her gaze bounced between the food and the delicious aroma wafting around her. Her tired face slowly brightened, her eyes curving into crescents.

"Having assistants is the best! Hehe."

Hayley had gone along with Patricia’s plan because the latter had a real knack for currying favor. It had been Patricia’s idea to spoil Penny after the contest, and sure enough, they earned their first task. It might have been minor compared to Teddy’s, but it was progress.

Much to their dismay, just when the two of them had rushed out to buy some nice food for Penny, Teddy and Shawn returned with bags of their own. But instead of arguing, the four simply raced to Penny’s office to see whose food would win her over.

But alas... they had severely underestimated Penny’s appetite.

All four watched in stunned silence as Penny devoured the food they brought, her hands rotating through dishes like she was in a buffet competition.

’I think at some point, the four of us just silently agreed that whoever’s food she ate the most of did the best job cheering her up,’ Hayley thought, too stunned to eat.

’She... she’s eating everything,’ Shawn quietly gasped, watching in disbelief. ’Where is she putting all that food?’

’Is chewing three to five times normal?’ Teddy wondered. ’Though watching her eat is kind of making me hungry too.’
