Minutes ago...
Penny uncorked a bottle of hundred-year-old wine and took a swig straight from the bottle. She hissed in satisfaction, licking her lips to savor the taste.
"Delicious! What is this? I’ve never had anything like this before!" she mused, checking the label before noticing the black panther waiting for her. She pursed her lips and glanced at Renny, grinning. "Blacky, you want some?"
The black panther tilted its head to the side, prompting her to chuckle.
"Kidding!" she hugged the bottle. "It’s not good for you. No, no, you can’t have it."
"..."
"Well, anyway..." Penny trailed off as she heard hurried footsteps approaching. Her lips curled downward as she crooked a finger to signal Renny to come closer.
"Stay here and be quiet," she whispered as she walked to the door and closed it cautiously. Penny then slumped to the floor, sitting beside Renny. "Hehe. Let’s not fight them for now. Time to celebrate because what I learned after staying in prison is that life — freedom needs to be celebrated."
She giggled and hid, enjoying her wine as she listened to the approaching men. She could sense their footsteps halt when they saw the scene in front of them.
"Ah, shit..." Angel, who had come to rescue his men after receiving a report, widened his eyes. He briefly scanned the unconscious bodies on the ground, noticing their torn clothes. One look and he knew Renny tore their clothes so aggressively.
Angel clenched his teeth and rushed to the nearest man he could reach. He quickly checked his pulse, heaving a sigh of relief when he found one. He continued to check on the others, finding that, fortunately, they were all unconscious but not dead.
"Goodness," Angel breathed out, watching as his men dragged the rest into sitting positions against the wall.
"Ugh..." one of the men, who had faced Penny and Renny, groaned as the movements around him stirred him awake. As soon as he saw Angel, he panicked and almost kicked him, but Angel swiftly caught his ankle.
"Hey, it’s me!" Angel shouted, snapping his comrade back to reality. "Hey!"
The man flinched, shaking himself out of his half-unconscious state. His shaky eyes focused on Angel, and he sighed in relief.
"Captain!" the man gasped, grabbing Angel’s chest tightly. "Ugh... I think I broke my leg."
"What happened here?" Angel asked, even though he already knew from the report. He needed to confirm if it was really Penny and Renny.
After all, they had no idea why Penny would attack them. As for the panther, it wasn’t a surprise if Penny was commanding it. Renny only listened to Zoren or Penny — and sometimes even to Chunchun.
"Miss Penny," the man rasped through gritted teeth. "She did all this... ugh... damn. It hurts. I think I broke a rib."
Angel gripped the man’s shoulder, tugging him closer. "Are you sure it was her?"
"Y—yes!" the man groaned, glaring at Angel. "It was her."
"Why?"
"I don’t know — argh! Captain... my shoulder... it hurts..."
Angel released the man’s shoulder quickly as if scalded, before assessing his condition. While there weren’t any fatal injuries, the man was clearly hurt. Still, this didn’t seem like Penny’s style. She might be vicious with her enemies, but she wouldn’t seriously harm her own men.
’She must have aimed to incapacitate them,’ he thought, swallowing hard as he glanced at the others who were also injured.
"She asked... she asked where he was."
