"Stay out of my sister’s life, and I’ll stay out of yours."
Dean couldn’t help but laugh as he recalled Slater’s warning. After saying that, Slater stepped back and offered Dean a charming smile, showing no trace of his earlier hostility. With that, Slater happily returned to his car and sped away, even honking to tease him before leaving.
"Sir," Dean’s assistant called. "Should we be worried about Slater Bennet?"
"There’s no need for that." Dean shook his head. "He’s just playing because he’s bored. As someone who’s always out and about, I’m certain his long-overdue vacation is killing him. So, let him be."
The assistant nodded. "Yes, sir."
Meanwhile, Dean leaned back and gazed out the window. He should have been mad about all of this, but in a way, he was amused. First Penny, now Slater—both were invading the Pierson family. It was so ridiculous he could only shake his head and laugh.
"Hah... Penny." His laughter subsided as he ran his tongue along his inner cheek. "What am I going to do with you? Now, even your brothers are meddling."
Did she ask them to intervene, or what?
From what Slater had said, Dean was certain Penny had mentioned their exchange. She might not have detailed it, but he understood that he had truly angered her yesterday. Well, that made it two of them, because she had angered him just as much.
"Send flowers to Penny’s office," he ordered without taking his eyes off the window. "Add a card that says, ’I’m sorry about yesterday.’"
"Yes, sir." The assistant nodded. "Is there a specific flower she likes?"
"No," Dean smirked. "She doesn’t like flowers, but send her one anyway. I’m certain she’s just going to throw it in the trash, so choose one that fits the trash can."
The assistant glanced at him before nodding in understanding. "Understood."
Dean smiled, knowing the flowers would only remind her of her anger toward him. Even so, if that was enough to keep him on her mind, he didn’t mind. As he laughed at the thought, his assistant suddenly turned her head back toward the backseat.
"Sir," she called, making him glance at her. "You might want to see this."
Deep lines immediately formed between Dean’s brows as he leaned forward to take the tablet from his assistant. He leaned back and skimmed through the freshly released article. The more he read, the more his lips curled into a smile.
"Hah... haha!" Dean laughed and shook his head at the ridiculous article. "What a ridiculous article. Someone’s trying to be a clown."
Dean checked the photos, which were obviously taken without the subjects’ knowledge. He smirked before handing the tablet back.
"Let it be. This is ridiculous," he said. "But send her another flower along with the first one. This time, a welcoming card. If I’m going to annoy her, I might as well do it with passion."
"Yes, sir."

[Skyline Plaza: Zoren’s Home]
"Second Brother? What are you doing here?" Penny gasped as she stopped by the stairs, catching a very familiar figure idling in the entryway. She flinched when Hugo turned his head, his eyes briefly scanning her.
Fortunately, Penny had already finished her morning routine and was ready for work, so she was able to hide what needed hiding.
’Good thing I snapped Renren back to his senses last night with a bite. Otherwise, I’d be wearing another turtleneck today,’ she thought, mentally patting herself on the chest in relief.
"Penny!" Hugo beamed at the sight of his sister. "Good morning!"
"Second Brother..." she greeted with an awkward laugh, running down the stairs and reaching him in no time. Once she stood before him, she looked around before returning her gaze to him. "Second Brother, why are you greeting me so early as if you’re in our parents’ home?"
"Ah.." Hugo grinned. "You don’t know?"
He smiled at her pitifully. "Don’t try to understand, Penny. You’d just get hurt." freewebnovel.cσ๓
