"More than you know, and more than I have shown you."
Penny held her breath, staring at Slater. Her brows slowly elevated in surprise. Meanwhile, Slater blinked ever so tenderly.
"Why would you ask such a question, though?" he asked with a slight pout. "Well, I guess I haven’t proven that until now, huh?"
"Heh..." Penny let out a shallow laugh, not really sure what he was talking about.
Slater smacked his lips and smiled. "Don’t worry. I’ll shower you with more love—just don’t touch my chocolates and cars."
I never did that. I wouldn’t dare.
"Are you leaving now?" he asked, cocking his head to the side. "Wait. Let me walk you out."
"It’s okay!" she panicked a little, flinching as she glanced at her parents. She heaved a sigh of relief when they didn’t wake up.
"What’s wrong with you?" Slater frowned. "I’m just offering to walk you out. No big deal."
Penny smiled at him and cleared her throat. "You should sleep. It’s okay. You don’t have to."
"I know I don’t have to." He blinked innocently. "But I want to."
"..." Penny stared at Slater quietly before she suddenly bolted away.
"Hey—" Slater almost choked, watching his sister sprint out of the theater room. He scoffed in disbelief; she was even faster than the speed of light! "What the heck is wrong with her? Why does she look so terrified?"
Slater pointed at himself before he froze, wide-eyed. "Don’t tell me she saw a ghost here?" he gasped, looking at his parents and tempted to wake them up to tell them to have another house blessing.

Meanwhile, when Penny was sure she was away from the theater room, she patted her chest. Looking back at where she came from, she shivered, feeling goosebumps.
"Goodness!" she breathed out in disbelief. "Why is he so chummy with me? Oh my god, it’s giving me goosebumps."
Penny rubbed her shoulders, shaking her body to shrug off the goosebumps that were crawling under her skin. She was more used to Slater berating her and being the meanie he was, not like this kind of brother.
"Has he always been like that?" she wondered to herself, shaking her head. "How could Nina stand that?"
As Penny looked away, the corner of her lips curled up. Even though Slater’s attitude gave her goosebumps, for some reason, it didn’t feel bad at all. It was shocking, but not unpleasant.
’He’s already blind and sick,’ she told herself as she reached the front door. ’What kind of person would I be if I worried about the disabled?’
