"That person... Sven Bennet..." Zoren paused as he walked out of the bathroom in only a towel robe, drying his hair with another small towel. "He’s the same person from that charity event?"
Penny, seated on the chair in front of the study desk, looked back at him. Catching a glimpse of his toned chest made her sigh.
"Yes," she answered with a heavy heart, peeling her eyes away from him to the laptop in front of her. "He’s probably here to beg First Brother for the last time. I heard he made a huge fuss when he was kicked out of the company. That fool... First Brother already saved his face by telling him to send in his resignation letter to keep his last shred of dignity."
Penny clicked her tongue in irritation, thinking that Sven was stubborn and foolish through and through. After a moment, her surroundings darkened as she sensed Zoren’s presence near her. Turning her head to the side, she saw Zoren place a hand on the edge of the desk and lower his head.
"What are you doing?" he asked, squinting at the monitor of her laptop, trying to grasp what she was working on.
"Heh." Penny let out a short laugh, looking up at him before clearing her throat. "I’m not doing work—not the official kind."
"Then what is that?"
"A timeline of my previous life," she whispered. "Don’t worry. Even if someone steals my laptop or checks it, this document is secured. So, don’t worry about if someone reads it."
Zoren pressed his lips together while nodding in understanding. "Year... 2020?"
"Huh?" Penny froze, quickly looking back at him. "Renren, can you see it now?!"
Zoren straightened his back as she excitedly jumped in front of him, looking at him with twinkling eyes. "I can’t," he said. "It’s still blurry, but I can make out the words and numbers if I focus enough."
"Oh, my goodness!" Penny gasped, covering her lips as her eyes sparkled.
"It’s not a lot..." he trailed off when Penny suddenly jumped a step forward and hugged him tightly. He gazed down at her, placing a hand on her back, but the lines between his brows remained. "Penny, it’s a small progress, and it doesn’t mean I’ll get better anytime soon."
Penny looked up at him and grinned. "But that also means you’re getting better!"
"Well..."
"Progress is progress, and I’m so happy with it!" Penny exclaimed, feeling a little teary. Despite everything she was dealing with and all that was happening, she never forgot about Zoren’s condition.
She might make light of it sometimes and joke about it—though she didn’t fully understand why. But the bottom line was that his condition had been a constant worry for her. So, even if it was just a small improvement, she was happy with it.
Meanwhile, Zoren stared at her before the corners of his mouth hooked up. He cupped her face, brushing his thumb against her smile.
"It’s still not enough, though," he said under his breath. "Because I still can’t see you clearly."
"You’ll be able to in the future." Penny giggled. "I guess the medicine is working."
"I guess it is." He nodded, raising his brows as he was reminded of something regarding the medicine. Doctor Tan had shown curiosity about the medication Zoren was taking. However, instead of asking her, he decided not to bring it up anymore.
