[SKYLINE PLAZA]
"Done," Penny muttered under her breath, holding the phone to her ear. "But Yugi, before you go on, let me say one thing. This could be... no, this is more dangerous than you think. The person behind this doesn’t care about human lives and is the worst kind of psycho."
"That, I know," Yugi responded coolly. "If you’re handling it with caution, I’m sure it’s not something you’d approach lightly. Don’t worry about me. I’m old enough to fend for myself."
He paused, exhaling a deep breath. "My family is affected by this, and I won’t just stand by Penny. I’m pissed."
"Very well," she replied. "Just try not to get into too much trouble."
"Heh." Yugi snickered. "So, who is it?"
Penny hesitated, reluctant to reveal the name. But she knew that withholding it would only delay Yugi’s progress, especially since her orders hadn’t yet included the person she suspected was responsible.
"Jonathan Russel," she said. "I’m still not sure about him, but he’s the name Finn mentioned when he came to see me the morning before his accident."
"Jonathan Russel... got it."
"Be careful."
"Hah. He should be."
With that, Yugi ended the call, leaving Penny listening to the dial tone. She slowly lowered the phone, a slight smirk appearing on her lips as a glint of satisfaction flickered in her eyes. Now, Yugi would buy her some time.
"Is Yugi gonna be alright?" Zoren’s voice suddenly reached her from behind.
Penny looked back, her eyes landing on her husband, lying on his side, propped up on one elbow with his toned chest exposed under a blanket that covered him from the waist down.
"If only you could see yourself right now," she murmured. "Actually, if I were only that talented, I’d make a sculpture of you."
Zoren chuckled as she sauntered over to join him on the bed. "So? Is Yugi going to be fine?"
"Of course, he will," she replied, settling beside him with one arm propped on the mattress. "Yugi has been with me since the beginning. Everything I know, he knows too... except for the rebirth part."
"I see." He smiled, pleased that there was still something only he knew about his wife. "If you’re confident, then I trust things will go your way."
"I’ve always wanted Yugi to take charge of it, but asking him directly would be useless."
"And why’s that?"
"Yugi likes doing things his way; he doesn’t want to be told what to do, especially when he isn’t interested. He finds it more taxing."
Zoren blinked, tilting his head before realization dawned on him. "You... set him up?"
"Hubby, why do you have to make it sound like I’m so manipulative?" Penny pouted, flopping onto her back as she waited for him to retract his words. But Zoren only looked at her, clearly unconvinced.
"Fine..." she sighed. "I told Aunt Jessa about the car, knowing she’d ambush him. As you know, Yugi ran away from home to join me when I started Prime Group. Aunt Jessa was against it, but he did it anyway. Since then, he’s been avoiding them because his plan to buy their forgiveness with gifts didn’t work. If Jonathan Pierson has been watching, I’m sure he’s expecting me to make a move. Isn’t it better if I send someone he probably didn’t know about?"
