Chapter 747: No wife

"She’s not that easy."

DING!

The side of William’s mouth twisted as his eyes glinted, staring at the elevator door. He glanced at the number above, noticing it was going underground straight to the exclusive parking space.

"Hah," he smirked, shoving his hands into his pockets. "Not that easy?"

Or did Zoren mean there was no wife at all?

Although rumors had it that Old Mrs. Pierson had already met her granddaughter-in-law and was very pleased with her, it could be a bluff. After all, Old Mrs. Pierson could be very cunning. She favored Zoren so much that it wouldn’t be a surprise if she played along with his schemes.

"Director."

Once the other elevator rang, William’s lackey approached him. William glanced at them and smirked.

"That took you a while," said William.

"Director, were you able to ask the CEO if he’s bringing his wife along?" asked one of the executives, William’s cousin, curiously.

"She’s not coming."

"He said that?"

"Not directly, but based on how it was worded, I’m sure she wouldn’t come," William smirked. "Or rather, she wouldn’t come because there’s no wife to begin with."

William’s lackeys looked at each other, their brows knitted together. "Director, are you sure that’s the case?"

"Heh."

"Of course. Otherwise, he probably hired someone — a nobody to marry him," said William with a nonchalant shrug. "I haven’t heard any of the socialites who can join our family say their daughters are married."

Moreover, if Zoren’s wife was from the upper social ladder, they wouldn’t be able to stop themselves from talking about it. Who would hide their relationship with Zoren Pierson? Regardless of the Pierson Family’s internal affairs, being associated with them—let alone being Zoren’s wife—would bring instant fortune to them.

"Oh, what a wonderful morning!"

Just before William could speak, he heard the cocky voice of a man. When he turned, his eyes instantly landed on Dean Pierson. His lackeys lowered their heads slightly, giving way to Dean, who stood on the same level as William.

"When I woke up this morning, I thought something good would happen today," Dean intoned. "Now that you’re the first person I see, I’m sure that’ll be the case."

William chuckled, looking down at Dean. "Dearest nephew, I’m glad you’re as enthusiastic as ever."

"The feeling is mutual, Uncle. Considering you’re not getting any younger, I’m glad you didn’t have to take maintenance." Dean nodded. "I heard people at that age are prone to more... bad things—health. So, I was worried."

"Haha. How touching."

"Very well." Dean smiled from ear to ear, holding William’s gaze and then looking at the executives. "Good morning, I’ll be on my way."

He then set his attention back to William. "Take care on your way, Uncle."

"You too, Dean." William nodded. "I heard that your little friend got into an accident. Well, that little fox is quite offensive, so I’m not surprised that karma is catching up to him."

The smile on Dean’s face faltered slightly. "See you around, Uncle."
