"I’ll kill him. If I don’t, then I’ll let him know I can."
Penny’s lips quivered, her sharp eyes growing rounder until her irises formed into heart shapes. She cupped her face, leaning closer to Zoren.
"Renren, how can you effortlessly bring out my feminine energy?" she giggled. "Gosh~ I probably carried all the bad luck from my previous life just to be this lucky this time around~!"
Zoren arched a brow before chuckling. "I thought you would stop me."
"Why would I? You look like you’d fight me too if I did!" Penny laughed. "But, well, just don’t kill him, okay? I don’t want my husband to get charged with murder."
"I have the Phantom Circle."
"..." Penny was rendered speechless for a second, blinking innocently as she looked at him. After a beat, she slapped his shoulder lightly and clicked her tongue.
"Ah." Stunned, Zoren rubbed his shoulder and gazed at his wife with surprise.
"Renren, I know you have the Phantom Circle, but don’t do that!" she frowned. "I know they’re all so annoying, and this mystery is such a headache. However, people... had miserable lives in the past. Although I don’t know if you did—"
"I did."
"Renren, you don’t even remember your past life."
"I don’t need to remember it to know it was miserable," he replied instantly, his tone certain. "Just the fact that you weren’t in it is enough for me to know how miserable it was."
Penny pursed her lips, puffed her cheeks, and huffed. "Let’s not talk about it for now. Hehe."
"I agree. It’s depressing to think I wasn’t in your life." Zoren shook his head, which made Penny chuckle because until now, Zoren had never been pleased with that part of the past. "Anyway, aside from this gift, is there anything else you liked?"
"Mhm. A few!" Penny pointed at the unwrapped gifts on the other side of the couch. "I’m keeping them."
Zoren tilted his head to check, catching his wife as she picked up a few small boxes to show him.
"This is from Harper. She said it was a family heirloom that brings good luck and fortune..." Penny happily explained before quickly moving to Mildred’s gifts.
Zoren just listened to her voice, not particularly impressed with the gifts his wife had received from his so-called family. However, knowing she was pleased was good enough for him.
"That one is from Amir; he bought it at an auction... and this one is from Noah." Penny grinned at him. "I’m still not sure, but I think he’s giving me a small portion of his share in JJ Mall."
Zoren raised a brow. "His share?"
"Mhm. Surprising, right?"
"Huh..."
"Why?"
