Pampered by my three brothers: the return of the neglected heiress novel Chapter 853

Chapter 853: Stay in touch?

"Lily hasn’t changed, has she?" Cassandra chuckled, looking at the pink ticket she picked up today for the fan club reunion. "She’s still as enthusiastic as I remembered."

Dean chuckled, staring at her across from him. "I wasn’t always around back then, but somehow, I found it interesting that the entire school was hit by this strange phenomenon called Penny."

"She was very cute back then," Cassandra laughed, recalling how adorable Penny used to be. "We always thought she was a toddler, not a freshman. Kiara even secretly kept her stickers because she likes cute things."

"She was wide and small... like a gas tank."

"Pfft —" Cassandra covered her mouth, holding back her laughter. Laughing at his comment didn’t feel quite right. "Please don’t say that. It feels wrong. Didn’t you two have an apprenticeship under Professor Singh?"

Dean shook his head. "We did, but perhaps it was the age gap that made us a little... competitive with each other."

"Oh?"

"Penny is smart and, to be honest, since she’s younger, I didn’t want to look like a clown," Dean continued with a slight smile. "She made me study and work twice as hard as everyone else. I didn’t have to do that in the Star Section."

"She made us all work and study very hard," Cassandra added, remembering such a memorable time in the past. "She and her older brother, Atlas. Though I was more scared of Atlas since he’s more serious."

"I heard." Dean nodded, followed by a brief silence between them.

For some reason, the two of them went quiet as they reminisced about their time in the Star Student Sections. It reminded them just how easy life was back then. At least, for Cassandra, it seemed easier. As for Dean, it might not have been as simple for him as it was for everyone else, given the weight of his responsibilities since childhood. But there were still good and fun moments.

One of them was the memory of Penny and her section doing a horror booth.

Thinking about it, Dean couldn’t help but smile. Cassandra, on the other hand, raised an eyebrow.

"It was a fun memory," she remarked, causing the smile on his face to stiffen a little. "But Penny has changed a lot, hasn’t she?"

"Has she?" Dean tilted his head slightly. "I don’t think so. She’s still the same as she was years ago."

Cassandra blinked a few times, knitting her brows. "Are you and Penny... close friends, Dean?"

"Huh?"

"I just noticed you were smiling while talking about her," she observed. "And then that look in your eyes..."

Cassandra trailed off, pursing her lips as she forced a smile. "Never mind."

"Did you just stop and change your mind about asking me something?" he pointed out, making her chuckle a little.

"I’m a therapist, but I don’t want to pry."

"You can ask me anything."

"It’s okay, Dean." Cassandra shook her head lightly. "It’s not important."

"For me, it is."
