Chapter 254: ’Why Do You Think?’

"Kraa... Kraa..."

Florian lay sprawled on his bed, one arm draped over his forehead as he let out a slow breath. Above him, tiny claws shifted against the sheets, and the familiar weight of Azure settled near his head. The small dragon was nibbling on his hair, his sharp teeth tugging at loose strands with what could only be described as playful mischief.

Florian turned his head slightly, locking eyes with the tiny creature. Azure froze, his little body tensing before he quickly pulled back, tongue sticking out as if caught red-handed.

A small laugh escaped Florian. "Are you sure you’re a dragon?"

Azure tilted his head, then nodded.

Florian narrowed his eyes in playful skepticism. "You kind of remind me of a puppy, though."

At that, Azure tilted his head the other way, utterly confused. His long tail twitched, his eyes blinking up at Florian as if the comparison itself was incomprehensible.

Florian chuckled, reaching out to ruffle the dragon’s soft, shimmering scales. "Mhm. Now, I wonder when Cashew’s going to come. Should I go look for him?"

The mood shifted instantly.

Azure, who had been relaxed just moments ago, suddenly stiffened. His once playful expression darkened, and a low growl rumbled in his tiny throat. His claws pressed into the bed, his tail flicking sharply in irritation.

Florian raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Why do you dislike Cashew, hm?" His voice was light, teasing. "Is it because you’re both kids?"

Azure blinked, looking even more perplexed.

Florian only smiled, tapping a finger against the dragon’s snout. "Boop."

Azure let out a small, indignant huff but didn’t move away.

With a stretch, Florian sat up. "Alright, I should look for Cashew. He’s already been acting weird lately, but him not showing up at all is actually concerning."

Just as he swung his legs over the edge of the bed, the door creaked open.

Florian’s head snapped up, expecting to see Cashew’s small frame hesitantly stepping inside.

But the presence that entered wasn’t Cashew’s.

It was someone taller, someone far more solid—someone Florian instantly knew wasn’t supposed to be here.

The moment he stood to greet whoever it was, he collided straight into them.

"Ah!" Florian stumbled back, startled both by the unexpected presence and the firm chest he had just crashed into.

Azure screeched in alarm, his wings flaring as Florian’s heart leaped into his throat. Before he could fully register what was happening, an arm wrapped around his waist, catching him before he could fall.

Florian froze.

The grip was firm, steady, almost too comfortable.

Then—

"My prince, you have to be more careful."

Florian’s eye twitched.

’That nickname... that flirty tone...’

He looked up, exasperated, already knowing who it was before he even saw the familiar smirk.

"Lancelot," Florian groaned, pressing a hand against the knight’s chest in an attempt to push him away. "You scared me."

If anything, Lancelot’s grip only tightened. His orange eyes gleamed with amusement as he looked down at Florian with that infuriatingly charming smile.

"And can you please let me go?"

Lancelot didn’t budge. "But, my prince," he teased, tilting his head, "what if you fall again?"

Florian scowled, already regretting getting out of bed.

’Why did it have to be this shameless man of all people? And why did he even come in without knocking?’

Only two people had access to his room even when it was locked—Lucius and Lancelot.

Florian opened his mouth, about to demand an explanation, but before he could—

A small, blue blur launched straight at Lancelot’s face.

"What the f—?!" Lancelot staggered back, momentarily caught off guard.

Florian wasted no time. The second Lancelot’s hold loosened, he bolted to the other side of the room, putting as much distance as possible between them.

"Thank you, Azure!" Florian thought triumphantly as he watched the tiny dragon crawl around Lancelot’s face, his claws gripping onto the knight’s hair as if it were his personal jungle gym.

Lancelot, on the other hand, was not amused.

"Lancelot, don’t—"

Florian pointed up. "Yes. Azure."

Lancelot’s eyes widened in realization. "Wait... why is His Majesty’s dragon here? And why is he small?"

Florian smirked but narrowed his eyes right back at him. "Before I answer your question, you answer mine. How did you get in here? And why are you here?"

Florian crossed his arms. "That still doesn’t explain why you’re here."

Lancelot’s smirk grew. "Remember that one fateful night when you had a nightmare? I came in then, too."

Oh, right.

He had completely forgotten about that.

"T-Then why did you come now?" he pressed. "There’s nothing going on!"
