Rebirth: Leading Families to Survive in the Apocalypse novel Chapter 116

Chapter 116: Chapter 116 Zheng Miaomiao

The fragrance of the food wafted into the courtyard next door, and Sun Yixue, smelling the long-lost aroma of the meal, thought about the disdain from the group of people earlier and suddenly burst into curses.

Actually, the people on the bus had also hoped Sun Yixue would successfully strike up a conversation, perhaps allowing them to cling to a stronger party, but they hadn’t expected that the other group had a Space Element Ability User too. Or was it that Space Element Ability Users weren’t that rare after all?

“Smash!” Sun Yixue crushed a cup to pieces.

Sun Yixue was feeling absolutely terrible now, as this was the first time she had faced rejection since the Apocalypse.

After their unsuccessful attempt to cozy up, they simply moved in right next to that group of people, never expecting them to start cooking, with the tantalizing scent of food making their stomachs growl miserably.

In reality, Su Jin and the others hadn’t cooked at all; it was just that the food they took out from their Space was too fragrant.

Zheng Miaomiao unexpectedly found some rice in the rice bin of this house. If she cooked the rice into porridge, there should be enough for each of the dozen or so people to have a portion.

Moreover, the house had a gas cylinder. She shook it and felt there was still some gas inside, so she used her Water Element to fill a basin with water and then started washing rice to make porridge.

They could finally have a hot meal, even if it was just a bowl of porridge, it was still a luxury.

She didn’t think about the food next door anymore, that was their own thing and their own skill; she wasn’t shameless enough to just go there and cling to their leg.

The aroma of the rice porridge quickly spread to the living room. Sun Yixue smelled it, followed the scent into the kitchen, and found Zheng Miaomiao actually cooking porridge.

“Where did you get the rice?” Sun Yixue asked after a look around, wondering if Zheng Miaomiao had been hiding things behind her back.

“It was left over in this house, I just found it,” Zheng Miaomiao replied, focused on stirring the pot of rice porridge, for fear it would scorch, which would be such a waste.

“Hmmph, at least you’re somewhat useful. Make sure to bring me a bowl first once it’s done,” Sun Yixue said haughtily and then left.

Zheng Miaomiao didn’t respond and continued stirring the porridge in the pot.

“Miaomiao, are you cooking porridge?”

Liu Jiajin walked in and swallowed hard, saying, “This porridge smells amazing.”

By then, the porridge was ready. Zheng Miaomiao ignored Liu Jiajin behind her, washed the largest bowl she could find with Special Ability Water, filled it with a generous serving of porridge, and began devouring it. She didn’t care about anything else; what she ate was the real deal.

“Miaomiao, how can you just eat by yourself?!” Liu Jiajin kept on complaining as if the rice belonged to his own family.

After feeling a bit better in her stomach, Zheng Miaomiao refilled her bowl with porridge, shot Liu Jiajin a glare, and called out, “The porridge is ready! Everyone, come and eat~”

Watching a swarm of people rush into the kitchen, Zheng Miaomiao continued to eat her porridge with sly glee in her eyes, hoping the face-conscious Liu Jiajin could manage to snatch a bowl for himself.

Having finished her own bowl of porridge, Zheng Miaomiao also walked out, by which time the pot of porridge was nearly empty, leaving only a thin soup. Sun Yixue just came out of the toilet to see everyone in the room holding a bowl of porridge and eating.

“Zheng Miaomiao! Where’s my porridge?” Sun Yixue demanded as she approached Zheng Miaomiao.

“The porridge is all gone.”

“What? Didn’t I tell you to save a bowl for me!”

Sun Yixue was almost driven mad by anger; what kind of unlucky day was it today!

“Liu Jiajin said we shouldn’t hoard food, and told me to call everyone to eat together. I didn’t expect the porridge to run out so quickly,” Zheng Miaomiao said innocently to Sun Yixue. What she said was true; it was indeed Liu Jiajin who didn’t let her eat alone.

“Xiao Xue, listen to me explain, I didn’t mean to…” Liu Jiajin, holding his bowl, tried to explain to Sun Yixue.
