Chapter 283 -283 Dual-Element Zombie
The minibus slowly started and gradually made its way to the base’s gate.
In the post-apocalypse, many teams would pick up abandoned vehicles by the roadside for use, and larger teams often chose minibuses, so the people at the base only assumed that it was a larger team heading out for a mission and didn’t pay any particular attention to this vehicle.
Yet the atmosphere inside the minibus was somewhat eerie; even the usually talkative Lin Xiuyuan and Nie Qing and a few others were sitting quietly in their seats.
Su Jin found it a bit funny, guessing that everyone was likely too nervous to crack jokes because the base leader was present.
Liang Jiuhui realized this as well and took the initiative to start a conversation with Su Xiangzhe, who was sitting by the aisle.
Su Xiangzhe felt a bit ashamed of himself; his thunder element ability had only reached Level Two, while Liang Jiuhui’s was already at Level Three Thunder Element. Considering he also had the benefits of the Marrow Cleansing Pill and the spiritual power from his space element, he was still trailing far behind others. It seemed that when it came to special abilities, talent and diligence were the most important factors after all.
...
Mao Qiqi, while keeping an eye on her mini-map, glanced out the window from time to time. In her arms was Local Tyrant Gold, who had insisted on coming along that morning, and was seriously observing the scenery outside. They had never traveled this road before, and Su Jin couldn’t help wondering just how much that little monkey could remember since it always seemed to recall so many routes.
“Sister Xiao Jin, the road ahead is blocked by something, it would be best to detour to the right,”
Mao Qiqi whispered to Su Jin, who was sitting beside her.
Su Jin nodded and relayed the situation to Liang Jiuhui. Since the driver in front wasn’t one of her people, it would be better for Liang Jiuhui to speak up.
Upon hearing Liang Jiuhui’s instruction, the driver, Xiao Liu, was a little surprised but still re-routed the minibus to the right as suggested.
“The little girl is amazing; I didn’t sense anything at all,” Sheng Jing said with a tone full of admiration.
Mao Qiqi was pleasantly surprised when she learned from Su Jin that Sheng Jing was the new mental element ability user.
“Sister has just awakened; you can do it too in the future,” Mao Qiqi said sweetly.
“Thank you, little senior,”
Sheng Jing joked.
Liang Jiuhui was reassured but also somewhat surprised; could mental element ability users not only sense danger but also scout the path ahead? Otherwise, how could a child know to take the road on the right and that the original path was blocked?
Thus, in Liang Jiuhui’s eyes, Mao Qiqi instantly became akin to a little satellite.
The road to the Traditional and Western Medicine Hospital wasn’t easy to navigate. Although the driver, Xiao Liu, tried to avoid zombie-infested areas and impassable roads as Mao Qiqi suggested, the silent minibus still attracted the attention of numerous zombies.
The passengers, including Su Jin, appeared unfazed, as if such scenes were all too familiar.
However, Su Xiangzhe couldn’t help worrying whether the minibus could withstand the attacks from the mutated zombies outside, since it was, after all, just a minibus.
“Don’t worry, I’ve had a metal element ability user reinforce the vehicle body, even the windows have been replaced with bulletproof glass,” Liang Jiuhui said.
“Uncle Liang, is the roof reinforced as well?” Mao Qiqi asked.
The roof?
“Not yet…” Liang Jiuhui thought for a moment and then replied.
Sheng Jing was also puzzled; she couldn’t sense any zombies on top or any feeling of something about to fall on it.
“There’s a zombie flying in our direction, probably a wind element zombie,”
Qiqi pointed in the direction behind them and expressed her concern that, given the height of the wind element zombie, it could potentially land on the roof of the minibus.
