Chapter 94: Chapter Ninety-Four: Morning Exercise
That night, the rain poured all through the night.
Listening to the pitter-patter of the rain outside, everyone actually slept more soundly.
Su Jin pretended to sleep in the car, but in fact, she went to rest in her Space. Once she felt refreshed, she came out.
Seeing Lu Hao, who had not yet gone to bed, Su Jin, not wanting their conversation to disturb everyone, called him into the car.
“Wasn’t it Lin Xiuyuan on watch for the night?”
Su Jin remembered that before she entered her Space, Lin Xiuyuan had volunteered to take the first half of the night’s watch.
“Yeah, he fell asleep while on watch, and I didn’t feel at ease,”
Lu Hao said, without any hint of complaint. Indeed, he was really worried about letting Lin Xiuyuan watch alone, so he had been paying attention the whole time. It turned out the guy actually fell asleep while on watch.
“Why don’t you go and sleep for a bit? I’m enough to keep watch here,” Su Jin offered.
“No need, I’ll keep you company,”
Lu Hao didn’t feel sleepy. Being with Su Jin, quietly, just the two of them, made him feel even more awake.
…
Su Jin began to feel a bit awkward. The two of them were in a confined space, and everyone else was sleeping outside, so she could only find random topics to chat intermittently with Lu Hao.
“Aren’t you curious why I don’t let everyone get wet in the rain?” Su Jin leaned on Lu Hao’s shoulder and said.
“The rain, it’s not clean?”
Lu Hao recalled the perfunctory words Su Jin had said to Shi Jin. Although they were dismissive, he felt there was some truth to them.
“Yes, I can’t remember exactly when it was or which rainfall it was, but after that rain, the number of zombies increased a lot. Moreover, some of the normal people who got rained on turned into zombies or Special Ability Users, but only a very few turned into Special Ability Users,”
Struggling to remember, Su Jin continued, “After that rain, the ranks of the Mutated Zombies also increased, and Mutated Plants started to appear more frequently.”
She wasn’t certain about which particular rainfall it was, so she could only make sure everyone avoided getting wet before then.
Hearing Su Jin sigh softly, Lu Hao embraced her with his arm, saying, “Don’t be scared, we’ll always be together,”
The despondency Su Jin felt while reminiscing was instantly pulled back by Lu Hao’s deep voice. Yes, she was with her family, her lover, her teammates. As long as they were together, she wasn’t afraid of anything.
Su Jin kissed Lu Hao’s cheek and smiled, saying “Thank you.”
…
Early the next morning, Mao Qiqi was the first to wake up because she sensed some zombies slowly moving in their direction. However, she didn’t feel any danger, as there were not many zombies around, and none were high-level.
