When Third Young Master and Sang Li returned to the private room, no emotion could be seen on their faces.
Perhaps only they themselves knew what they had discussed.
"Let’s go," Sang Li walked over to Lin Zhiyi and took her bag.
"Mm."
Lin Zhiyi followed him to the outside of the hotel.
After exchanging a few pleasantries, Sang Li’s assistant drove the car over.
As she got into the car, he cautioned Sang Ran, "Don’t get too crazy."
"I know, I know, you go ahead and take Zhiyi back. Third Young Master will take good care of me," Sang Ran cooed.
It was obvious that Sang Li had never treated Sang Ran as disabled.
No wonder Sang Ran, even being so, could be so cheerful and comfortable.
Lin Zhiyi felt inferior and couldn’t bear to hurt her, so she entered the car with her head down.
When closing the car door, she caught a glimpse of Gong Chen out of the corner of her eye.
He was also looking at her, his gaze startling, as if warning her not to forget to wait for him here.
Lin Zhiyi pursed her lips, stared straight ahead, and until the car had left the hotel, she felt that gaze lingering behind her as if it were there and not there.
Then, her phone vibrated.
As expected, it was Gong Chen.
"Wait for me."
Lin Zhiyi didn’t respond and shoved the phone back into her bag, staring out the car window.
"What are you thinking about?" Sang Li suddenly asked.
"Nothing much, just feeling quite cold today," Lin Zhiyi made up a reply.
Sang Li looked at her and took off his coat to place it over her knees.
"You look nice in a skirt, but don’t wear it next time when it’s cold."
The sudden care left Lin Zhiyi somewhat at a loss.
She even suspected that Sang Li, like the men before, had ulterior motives.
Perhaps it was lust, or perhaps it was because of her unclear relationship with the Gong Family, or maybe something else.
Unexpectedly, Sang Li, perceiving her gaze, smiled faintly.
"Right now, I’m not lacking anything but a wife."
"..."
Lin Zhiyi paused and chuckled.
Sang Li’s smile deepened. "Your fake laugh has improved."
Hearing this, Lin Zhiyi realized he was teasing her.
"Mr. Sang, I didn’t know you joked like this."
"I actually prefer you calling me ’brother,’" Sang Li’s eyes shimmered as he looked at her.
Lin Zhiyi pursed her lips, unsure of how to respond.
The coat on her lap carried the warmth and scent of a man.
Unlike Gong Chen, Sang Li’s expression was also cold but not heartless; rather, it was detached.
Whatever he said, it didn’t make her feel suffocated.
Lin Zhiyi smiled, feeling that she should no longer obsess over the love and hatred of her past life.
Just as she was consoling herself, the car stopped at a red light, and she heard a soft tapping on the window.
She turned her head and saw the falling snowflakes.
On the sidewalk was a couple, the man carrying the woman, their figures blurring with the increasingly heavy snow.
Lin Zhiyi’s heart started to waver again, as if she saw Gong Chen holding her and kneeling on the ground as they left the red house.
The deliberately ignored questions surfaced one by one.
Why kill for her?
Why release Gong Yan for her?
And why say he’d leave with her?
She tried to contain her emotions but looking at the endless sky, she knew she needed an answer.
"Stop the car."
"What’s wrong?" Sang Li asked.
"I have something to attend to, I’ll get off ahead," Lin Zhiyi finally spoke out.
"I’ll take you."
"No need, I’d like to solve it on my own," Lin Zhiyi bit her lip, unable to say more.
Sang Li hummed in acknowledgment. "Go ahead."
"Thank you."
