Upon hearing the voice, He Yao immediately released Lin Zhiyi and then straightened his suit, smiling as he stood up.
"Miss Sang, long time no see."
"He Yao?" Sang Ran was slightly surprised.
She then slightly turned to introduce him to the person behind her.
"When I was undergoing treatment abroad, He Yao was also hospitalized with injuries. We became hospital mates, and I didn’t expect to see you again."
Only then did Lin Zhiyi realize that it wasn’t just Sang Ran who had arrived.
Gong Chen and Wen Qing were there too.
She slightly raised her eyes, meeting Gong Chen’s gaze directly, as if seeing into an unfathomably deep abyss.
Even though his face was expressionless, the aura around him was chilling to the bone.
He Yao and Mrs. He also noticed Gong Chen and quickly nodded in greeting.
"Third Young Master."
"Mm."
Gong Chen responded coldly, emotionless.
Out of politeness, Lin Zhiyi nodded slightly and then shifted her gaze, just in time to make eye contact with Wen Qing.
Wen Qing stood behind Gong Chen, offering a gentle smile.
Lin Zhiyi’s face turned pale, instantly understanding that their appearance here was no coincidence.
She remembered Wen Qing mentioning that her marriage was a decision discussed between Gong Chen and the elder.
A few days ago, Gong Chen had warned her not to mess with Wen Qing.
It seemed that today he was here to keep an eye on her during the matchmaking.
Sometimes she really couldn’t understand Gong Chen, how could he coldly manipulate her while also sending her sweet rice wine balls?
But she soon found out.
Sang Ran curiously looked at Lin Zhiyi and He Yao, asking, "What is this...?"
Quietly, Wen Qing glanced at Mrs. He.
Mrs. He quickly laughed, "We are discussing a marriage arrangement. Once the date is set, we will invite you to celebrate."
"Marriage arrangement? Zhiyi, when did you get together with He Yao?" Sang Ran asked in astonishment.
Lin Zhiyi was about to explain when the sharp gaze of Wen Qing fell on her.
Wen Qing idly twirled his ring, full of warning.
Wen Qing was determined to have her marry He Yao, it seemed there must be an issue.
Seeing her silence, Sang Ran wanted to inquire further but was interrupted by Wen Qing.
"Xiao Ran, this is their matter, don’t ask too much. Mr. He is a good match, and it’s normal for Lin Zhiyi to like him, right? If she wasn’t satisfied, would she be discussing a marriage arrangement? Wouldn’t you say so, Third Young Master?"
Gong Chen’s expression was brooding, and he remained silent.
Sang Ran, however, felt she was indeed being too abrupt and embarrassedly hooked her arm through Gong Chen’s, "Then we won’t disturb you anymore."
"Don’t leave; let’s sit together for a meal and catch up," He Yao suggested, directing the waiter to add more utensils.
Sang Ran and He Yao had indeed encouraged each other for a while overseas.
Not wanting to seem unfriendly, she tilted her head to look at Gong Chen.
Gong Chen, ever obliging, pulled out a chair for her. "Please, sit."
Sang Ran smiled gently, murmuring in the tone of a lover, "You’re so kind."
Coincidentally, Lin Zhiyi, seated next to them, heard everything clearly.
She lowered her eyes, picked up her teacup, and calmly drank, her gaze drifting towards He Yao.
To her surprise, He Yao actually knew Sang Ran.
And his treatment of Sang Ran seemed even better than that toward his own mother.
As she watched He Yao, a gradually warming gaze fell on her face.
She ignored it, continuing to sip her tea.
Then, Sang Ran’s voice rang out by her ears.
"I didn’t expect they would have sweet rice wine balls here too. I want to see how they compare to the ones Third Young Master bought."
"Sweet rice wine balls?"
Lin Zhiyi repeated instinctively.
