Lin Zhiyi took a bath and changed into new clothes after returning home.
Just then, Sang Li came to pick her up.
The two went to watch a movie in the afternoon, and during dinner, Sang Li mysteriously said he had a gift for her.
Lin Zhiyi thought he was planning to give her flowers again.
"Mr. Sang, I really don’t have any more vases to put flowers in, please spare me."
"Flowers? Sort of," Sang Li said with a meaningful smile.
Lin Zhiyi didn’t think much about it, merely considering to look for vases in a supermarket on her way home later.
After dinner, Sang Li suggested taking a walk.
Lin Zhiyi followed him to the restaurant’s backyard garden.
The area was decorated with numerous lights, looking quite enchanting.
Oddly enough, except for the two of them, there were no other guests around.
"Why is there nobody else?" Lin Zhiyi curiously asked.
Sang Li stopped, looked at her solemnly, and said, "Because today it is open only for you."
Lin Zhiyi was stunned when suddenly fireworks burst above them in the sky.
She looked up at the night sky, her face lit up by the brilliant splendor.
Sang Li, however, kept his gaze fixed on the woman in front of him.
Even the most beautiful fireworks could not compare to her smile.
Her smile rippled at the corners of her lips, lightly brushing over his heart like a feather.
Her eyes shimmered with emotion, capturing one so deeply with just a glance that it was impossible to pull away.
Sang Li reached out, pulling her close and lifted an engagement ring in front of her.
"Zhiyi, will you marry me?"
"..."
Lin Zhiyi looked at Sang Li, at a loss.
She never imagined Sang Li would propose to her.
By the time she regained her senses, Sang Li had already taken her hand to slip on the ring.
The ten-carat oval main diamond, offset by a ribbon and butterfly knot design, appeared very lively.
It was clear that Sang Li had put a lot of thought into selecting the ring.
But was she really worthy of it?
As the ring neared her finger, Lin Zhiyi involuntarily curled her fingers.
Sang Li paused, sensing her hesitation: "Zhiyi, trust me."
Lin Zhiyi looked into his earnest eyes, feeling a warmth in her heart.
Just then, purple fireworks burst overhead, sparkling like a sky full of stars.
Thinking of stars, she couldn’t help but look up, feeling as if the stars were responding to her.
Indeed, it was time for her to start a new life.
Sang Li noticed Lin Zhiyi’s prolonged silence, feeling somewhat dejected, "Zhiyi, I won’t force you."
But Lin Zhiyi raised her other hand: "Put it on this hand; my other hand hasn’t fully recovered yet, it needs rehabilitation training, so I can’t wear a ring on it."
"Yes, yes,"
Sang Li kept nodding.
Zhou Zhao, who had been secretly controlling the lights from behind, couldn’t stand watching anymore and peeked out from behind the tree.
"Young Master! Put on the ring!"
"Yes, yes."
The usually composed Sang Li seemed a bit flustered.
He took Lin Zhiyi’s other hand and slipped the ring onto her index finger.
Zhou Zhao face-palmed: "Young Master! You put it on the wrong finger!"
Sang Li cleared his throat, finally managing to place the ring on the correct finger.
Lin Zhiyi, watching the two, couldn’t help but laugh.
"How long have you two been busy with this?"
"Not long," Sang Li said lightly.
Zhou Zhao brushed tree leaves off himself: "Not long? We started preparing a week ago, and spent all yesterday rehearsing. The young master said you don’t like being watched, but we couldn’t do without a ceremony, so that’s why he arranged the fireworks. Now the whole city is guessing who set them off."
Before Lin Zhiyi could ask Zhou Zhao to keep it quiet, Sang Li already spoke: "No need to let anyone know, as long as we know that’s enough. Zhiyi is still undergoing hand rehabilitation, continuously being observed isn’t good for her."
