Russell called white Valeria was still figuring things out, and he laughed triumphantly, “Didn’t I handle that perfectly?
Valerie clutched her phone, her voice thick with disbelief. “Wait, you invited all those verified accounts?”
Assuming Russell thought she was discussing Shelton Entertainment’s official accounts, he confidently responded, “Absolutely! I even engaged several influencers to promote you. Look at you now–practically an overnight sensation as the world’s most talented girl. So, regarding the rights to your next song…” He paused, clearing his throat pointedly.
Valerie felt a warm glow of satisfaction. “Alright, you did well. I’ll send you some potential scores later for you to choose from.”
“Actually,” Russell said, “I’d like to commission a custom theme song. I’m currently working on a film and need a soothing, uplifting theme song, and ! want you to sing it.”
“Me?” Valerie hesitated, then laughed. “Have you forgotten how awful my singing is?”
“Of course I haven’t forgotten,” Russell said. “But I think you’re perfect for this. Your voice–that ethereal, healing, youthful quality–is precisely what this film needs. Given your current viral popularity, why not consider making this your official debut?”
Valerie scoffed, “A debut? As a singer? Absolutely not!”
Russell said confidently, “You have a truly unique and rare voice. Mainstream music may not be the right fit, but we can create a vocal style tailored for you. Given your current buzz, a debut now would launch your career – it’s an opportunity most artists never get. If you’re interested, I’ll dedicate myself to promoting you. If not, we’ll move on; no pressure at all.”
Valerie paused, her eyes betraying a flicker of uncertainty.
“Honestly, with your looks, it would be a crime not to debut. You’re stunning, young, and talented–especially considering you haven’t even graduated from college yet. Have you given any thought to your career plans?” he continued.
Valerie had to admit, Russell’s remark struck a chord with her current concerns. She wanted to make a lot of money. But she loved making music and painting. If she wanted to pursue these passions professionally, the entertainment industry would indeed be a great choice.
“How about signing with me? I’ll have your back!” Russell encouraged.
Valerie’s brow furrowed slightly. “How long will you be staying in Reano City this time?”
“I won’t be here much longer; I’m heading back soon,” Russell sighed. “This trip is for family matters–it’s actually about what I mentioned before.”
‘Didn’t he previously say the plan was just to bring the Shelton family’s long–lost heiress home?‘ Valerie thought and felt a bittersweet pang of envy towards Juliette.
Despite Juliette’s unhappy childhood with her uncle’s family, she eventually found her birth parents, while Valerie, clinging to hope for over a decade, remained without a single clue. ‘Perhaps… I was truly abandoned back then,‘ Valerie thought.
A lump forming in her throat, Valerie asked, striving for a light tone, “So, is everything finalized?”
“Not yet,” Russell said, a hint of sadness in his voice/ “The blood test confirmed she’s my sister, but Camren still has his doubts. He wants Mom to meet her in person. Mom’s been in Reano City for days, watching her from a distance—they haven’t met yet.”
Knowing Camren was shrewd and cautious, Valerie wasn’t surprised by his suspicions. Having no desire to pry into the Shelton family’s private matters, she ended her call with Russell quickly.
Although the matter was resolved, Valerie expected to feel elated, but surprisingly, a heavy feeling settled in her heart after hanging up with Russell; sitting in her chair and gazing at the computer screen, she found her thoughts drifting back to hazy childhood memories.
‘I can’t remember a thing,‘ Valerie thought, ‘but somehow I know those were the happiest days of my life.‘

Chapter 166
Russell had just ended his phone call when Karrie emerged from her room. “All set,” she said briskly. “Let’s go”
Karrie looked stunning today, fadiating an air of elegance. Despite her excited expression, a hint of nervousness showed as she fidgeted with her bette She asked Russ, “What do you think your sister will say when she sees me? Do you think she’ll even recognize me as her mother?” She gated at upset
nervously.
Russel! wondered, ‘I’m not sure if she knows. I have no idea, but I guess she’d be pleased
Russell believed that after her sister’s extended stay in that dilapidated house, she had adopted coarse and unsophisticated habits, moreover, the avaricious glint in her eyes upon learning she might be the long–lost Shelton heiress filled Russell with revulsion, as if she had won the lottery
Russell dismissed Karrie’s question with a casual reply, and they soon arrived at the hotel where Juliette was staying, Camren had arranged a luxurious stay for Juliette, complete with gourmet meals and every comfort, granting her complete freedom and even a personal chauffeur.
Sprawled on her hotel bed, Juliette mindlessly scrolled through X, the joy of watching Valerie stumble now replaced by a fury so intense she nearly hurled her phone at the wall. ‘That bitch! How does Valerie always manage to catch all the lucky breaks?‘ Juliette furned inwardly.
The doorbell rang, and Juliette suppressed a grimace of hatred, forcing what she hoped was a beautiful smile as she went to answer the door, her face brightened at the sight of Russell, and she called out sweetly, “Russ!”
Russell froze, momentarily disoriented by the form of address. After a short pause, understanding dawned. He responded with a slightly awkward, “Well, what are you up to?”
Juliette offered a sugary smile, saying, “I’m just studying–teaching myself Estain. Even though I was framed and expelled, I still need to keep learning, right?”
