Chapter 264 A Sniper
“If we take them all out, no one will ever find out.” With those words, Lucien halted the vehicle, flung open the
door, and charged towards the group blocking the road.
The barricade was meticulously planned. The street was devoid of bystanders, setting the stage for a showdown that would keep Lucien’s true capabilities under wraps.
“Hold on.”
Before Maren could fully articulate her caution, Lucien was already embroiled in combat with the enemies.
In a rapid flurry, he subdued four opponents, though a steel rod managed to strike his shoulder.
The assailants were without firearms, yet each was equipped with a metal rod.
“No wonder they didn’t bring firearms. They actually know how to fight,” Lucien muttered, massaging his injured shoulder. The opposition was unexpectedly formidable.
Despite his skills, facing twenty adversaries simultaneously was proving to be a genuine challenge.
Silently, over a dozen men converged on him, initiating a fierce melee.
“Identify yourself!” With a forceful kick that sent an opponent reeling, Lucien shouted the demand. These were no ordinary street fighters; such expertise was typically exclusive to the Marshall family. This unexpected blow was a rare lapse for Lucien, indicative of the threat these skilled fighters posed. “Maren, I thought we agreed to handle ten each!” Lucien shouted over the din of battle as he deflected another
attack.
Stepping from the vehicle, Maren propped herself against the door, casually observing her pocket watch, seemingly indifferent.
Though the group of twenty adversaries was formidable, they barely taxed Lucien’s considerable skills.
Something else caught her attention. The vehicle that had almost collided with them was now nowhere to be
seen.
Clearly, their opponents had intended to herd them to this exact spot.
And then what?
Was the entire ordeal set up just to pit them against these moderately skilled fighters?
There seemed to be no advantage in merely slowing them down. Neither Maren nor Lucien was pressed for
time.
Shifting her focus from the ongoing fight, Maren surveyed her environment, her senses sharpened by suspicion.

The Marshall family indeed had access to military–grade weapons, a fact he knew all too well about the dangers involved

Was it possible that someone from the Marshall family was involved?
