There were two types of formation.

Ones that used runes and the other one only used the position. To be honest, the one that used position was simpler, but the effect was generally weaker because they couldn’t control the mana so accurately. They were also usually used in wider place and could be used to cover a large area.

Many people used positional formation because it was easier to learn. But at the same time, they would need magic tools to form this formation effectively otherwise it would be hard to make a formation in this world with thin mana.

The other formation that used runes were more complicated because they had to recognize the runes and also made sure it was stacked well. There were thousands types of runes and memorizing each and every single one of them was more than enough to make many people crazy. Because even the slightest bit of difference in the rune shape could change the rune’s meaning.

So people without good memory and talent would never be able to learn these runes and become formation maser.

Riya learned both formation.

But the one she mainly learnt was the rune formation, so she often called herself as Rune Master. This formation did exist in that world and it was also the name that Riya chose to identify for herself.

Because her best skills were indeed in these runes.

Meditating for a while, Riya soon recovered her mana and inspected her heart. She could sense her mana was growing quickly and then looked outside.

She was using her Advanced Mana Gathering Formation but at the same time, mana concentration of the world had increased sharply after the earthquake.

"We can try or we will be stuck here for the rest of our lives," Riya replied.

She could deal with these magic beasts and had already cleared up this area. But she couldn’t possibly protect Ruby and Amelia for the rest of their lives. What Riya wanted was to let them find a save place to stay for the time being while she cleaned up the areas.

At the same time, Riya wanted to investigate the cracks.

She had set up the formation and next time she came here, she would be able to go inside. Hopefully the formation would kill enough magic beasts.

And Riya wanted to know whether there were rank 1 or above magic beasts.
