Her fists felt more like an itch more than anything else when they landed on his body.
Though after fooling around for a while, Nell got tired and went back to sleep.
In the blink of an eye, three months had passed.
Nell could give birth at any time now.
Gideon had stopped going to work this month. Instead, he transferred company-related matters to Matthew and tried his best to take care of everything else at home just so he could stay by her side.
Today was actually Grandpa Foster’s sixtieth birthday. Joel had informed them about it a few days ago and insisted that they should arrive on time.
Following his orders, Gideon and Nell got themselves ready and took a car to the Foster residence.
The Fosters were one of the capital’s Four Great Clans, so it was not unusual that Grandpa Foster’s birthday celebration was as lively as it was.
John and Joel had been tasked with welcoming the guests as they trickled in. Those who were keeping the women entertained were Grandma and Madam Foster.
Janet and Liam were back in the country, so it was only natural for them to attend the celebration.
Nell’s best friend quickly called for a chair for Nell when she saw her protruding belly.
The pregnant woman sat down without feeling any embarrassment.
“You’re nine months in, huh?” Janet asked with a smile.
“Yeap.”
“You’re about to give birth. Are you scared?”
Honestly, Nell was a little scared.
Before this, she had felt nothing when she heard about how painful giving birth was. She would be lying now if she said she was not scared.
Janet noticed the apprehension suddenly taking over Nell’s expression and said with a smile, “It’s true that it’s going to hurt a little. It’s okay, though. You’d think whatever pain you’ve been through is worth it when you see your baby and hold it in your arms.”
She had every right to say those words since she was already a mom herself.
Nell nodded and smiled at her.
“I hope things will turn out all right.”
“Everything is going to be just great.”
Grandpa Foster was a person who loved crowds and a lively atmosphere. Considering his highly respectable place in society, it was very likely everyone from the upper class were all in attendance of this celebration.
The whole hotel had been rented out for the day. All the tables set out for the celebration were bustling with guests, and joy and happiness permeated the very air.
Nell’s emotions were also influenced by this delightful atmosphere as it lifted up her mood greatly and she ate more than she usually did for dinner.
Her stomach felt bloated after the feast, so she pulled Gideon along for a walk around the hotel’s back garden.
Fireworks were going off all around them, lighting up the night sky with its vibrant colors. It was as if they were walking on the busy streets at the heart of a big city.
Gideon got a call after they had strolled around for a while. It was from Joel.
Loud music exploded from the phone the second the call was connected. Gideon frowned at the noise and put his phone away from his ear. He only put it back against his ear after the music died down a little.
“Do you need anything?”
Joel shouted excitedly into the phone, “Second Elder Brother, Second Sister-in-law, are you guys still in the hotel? Come join us on the second floor!
The hotel’s main hall was on the first floor while a large bar was built on the second floor. The restaurants were located on the third and fourth floors.
Their soundproof system was superb, so no one in the restaurants could hear any kind of noise even when the bar was only one floor below.
“You’re in a bar again?” Gideon stated calmly.
Joel burst out laughing. “Yeah. Didn’t we just eat? Someone’s feeling down today. He asked me to sit with him for a glass or two, so I came. Where are you? You should join us!”
Gideon rejected his invitation right away. “No.”
“Huh? No! You finally decided to come out, so just come and relax a little.”
“It’s noisy,” Gideon explained with a blank expression.
“Okay then. We’ll go someplace quiet and drink some tea. Is that good with you? We’ll move to the teahouse on one of the upper floors.”
