Those noble wives and ladies usually never even entered the kitchen, much less talk about cooking.
That was why they were used to it. Besides, the kitchen was their world. They would make whatever the master’s family wanted to eat.
They never thought that Lucy would suddenly say that she wanted to cook personally.
Sister Rose watched Lucy hold up the menu and look over it seriously.
She quickly said humbly, “Madam, if you want to eat braised fish, we can change this dish to braised fish. You don’t need to cook it yourself.
“If you have any requirements for the taste, just tell us. We’ll try our best to do it. There’s really no need for you to do it yourself.”
Lucy looked at them and laughed.
“You’ve misunderstood. I don’t have any problems with your skills, I just…”
She paused, and as if she remembered something, the smile on her face suddenly turned tender.
“I just want to move my hands a little and try making it myself. You don’t have to look so scared. You can just go about your own business. If I need help or anything, I’ll ask you.”
When they heard this, they realized that she was not cooking personally because she was disgusted with their dishes, which relieved them slightly.
Sister Rose nodded. “Alright then. Be careful, Madam. I’ll bring out the ingredients you want to use.”
Lucy nodded. “Yes, thank you.”
“It’s no trouble, it’s something I should do.”
Lucy let Sister Rose take out the fish and clean it, and then she started to cook braised fish according to the process herself.
Sister Rose and the others did not know that Lucy could cook. They were a little worried at first, thinking that if she failed, they would have to be the ones cleaning up the mess.
However, once she started cooking, they realized that not only did Lucy know how to cook, she was also very skillful and precise. She did not look pampered and spoiled at all.
They were all very surprised. After Lucy had marinated the fish for twenty minutes, she began to fry it.
Lucy chatted with Sister Rose and the others while the fish was frying, and smiled. “Don’t underestimate this fried fish. It has to be fried until both sides are slightly burnt and golden, but it can’t be fried too hard or the fish will come apart. It’s actually a test of skill and heat control.”
Sister Rose saw that Lucy truly knew how to cook and praised her in her heart. She was sincerely impressed.
She also smiled. “Isn’t that right? If it’s just a little too much, it’ll end up burnt, but if it’s too little, you won’t get the aroma you want, and the fish that comes out of the pan will be lacking in taste. It’s not an easy job.”
Lucy laughed. After frying the fish, she started to boil water.
Since the kitchen personnel were usually busy in the kitchen, they rarely went out. Furthermore, Lucy was also very busy and did not usually spend much time at home, so they had spent very little time together.
Because of this, the servants did not understand her and thought that she was someone who was hard to get along with.
They thought that she would be similar to the madams of the wealthy families they served before.
However, they never expected that Lucy would be so friendly and easy to talk to.
She did not put on airs like a rich madam or a celebrity at all.
Everyone could not help but be pleasantly surprised, and their opinion of her improved.
After Lucy put the fish into the pot for it to stew, she called Joel and asked him to come back early for dinner tonight.
Joel knew that she would finish filming today and come back.
However, he did not know that she had personally cooked.
After promising her over the phone, he came back before 6 in the evening.
Lucy saw that it was about time, so she ordered the maids to serve the food.
Naturally, the dinner was full of colors and flavor.
Since there were only two people and Lucy and Joel were not wasteful people, although the dishes were rich, the portion of each dish was small.
Joel had just cast a cursory glance and did not pay much attention to it.
