Nera had never used her power when she was with Dan’s family, ever since that night, she didn’t reveal herself and never used her power just in case Rei would be able to track her down. Because she knew that he would be able to do it.
After all, magic left traces.
Therefore, it became even harder for Rei to find her, where he only got a clue about Nera’s whereabout after close to one year.
He knew about her because Nera had met so many people during these nine months she was with Dan.
And one fine day, when they were ready to depart to Karam continent, someone knocked on the door, where Nera opened it and saw Rei was standing there.
He was smiling at her, he looked relief, as if he just found his missing treasures. Probably that was right, because Nera was his treasure and no one could tell him otherwise.
"Nera, I missed you. I am here to rescue you." Rei immediately barged into the house, before Nera could stop him.
Nera couldn’t feel the darkness from him, or else, she wouldn’t have opened the door for Rei, but it was because he used her divine power to mask his own dark magic.
He did it so well. After all, he was a powerful magic user, the leader of the pure faction in the Holy kingdom.
"What are you doing here?" Nera tried to calm herself down and composed herself because she didn’t want to aggravate Rei. He knew this man well enough and more so, it was because he brought his best magic users. There were six of them and they surrounded the house.
If Nera was being reckless, she could put Dan and his family in danger and that was the last thing she wanted for them.
Currently, Nera and the other stayed in this rented small house, they would move to different area close to harbor tomorrow, because a week from now, their ship would be here and they planned to go to Karam continent.
It seemed, Nera wouldn’t be able to be on board.
She wouldn’t be able to meet with Dan’s mother and his little sister.
"Why don’t you look happy to see me?" Rei asked with a frown, he acted like the last past nine months had never happened. "Come here, sit with me." Rei patted the spot next to him and smiled at her harmlessly.
Nera couldn’t refuse and walk toward him like an obedient child she was, she sat next to him with blank expression. She was trying to predict when Dan and the other would return, because she absolutely didn’t want them to see Rei.
Through the window, Nera could see how bright out there.
"Why are you spacing out like that?" Rei asked, he caressed her cheeks, but then his attention was distracted with the fact how poor this place was. "You were running away from me and end up living in this kind of place? Are you insane? Did the people here held you back from returning home?"
"No. They didn’t hold me back," Nera said.
"Then, it’s you, who didn’t want to go home?" Rei asked, he looked hurt, he pinched her chin, so she could look at him, because Nera had been avoiding eye contact with him. "Why? Why did you do that? Why did you leave? Was there something that I didn’t give to you? I gave you everything, but you still left? At the very least, you owed an explanation for that."
Rei was furious, but he tried to keep it together, while Nera took a deep breath and hold back her tears because it started to become so painful when he pinched her chin.
"Let’s go back home. I want to go back home." Nera knew that she wouldn’t be able to escape Rei, in that case, she shouldn’t get Dan and his family involved in this matter. She wouldn’t be able to live with herself if something happened to them.
"No. You have not yet answered my question. Did they hold you back from returning home?"
"No. I want to stay with them."
"Why? You are being comfortable with them only after less than a year? But, you don’t feel comfortable with me, even though I am the one, who had been there for you, every step of the way. I am the one, who took care of you, but you didn’t feel comfortable with me? After nineteen years, you still don’t feel comfortable with me?"
Nera gritted her teeth. She didn’t want to say it, but she knew Rei wouldn’t drop this topic, she knew him pretty well to say that.
"Because you started seeing me as a woman." The words were blurted out of her mouth. "You saw me as a woman and I don’t want it. You raised, you literally a father or a brother to me, I feel uncomfortable to see the lust in your eyes. Your desire for me."
Once it was said, a harsh slap landed on Nera’s face, she stumbled from where she was sitting and Rei grabbed her hair to slapped her again. And again, and again, until Nera created a barrier between them. She fought back.
