The Alpha Train (Christina) novel Chapter 12

Chapter 12

Why the fuck did I have to lean in to whisper in Christina’s car? All through dinner I could barely focus because her scent of juniper berry, rum, and vanilla kept wafting over to me. It’s not like I can’t smell her. Scent is my strongest sense. But I needed a deeper smell, needed to take a deep breath of her scent. And fuck if my body didn’t respond instantly. And then she’d had to reply, her voice deeper as she kept it low and my mind or maybe my wolf had a flashed an image of me deep inside her, hearing that voice saying my name as I brought her pleasure.

I turned, taking the platters into the kitchen and setting them down beside the sink. When I looked up, Mia was watching me with narrowed eyes. I chose to ignore that and turned, only to be blocked by Sylvie.

What are you doing, Alpha?Sylvie asks me.

Dropping oll platters to be washed.

Don’t play coy, Alpha. You know us better than that,Mia snaps from behind me. Since I don’t like having a potential enemy at my back, I turn, and step back, making a triangle between us in this small space.

You’re right. Pretending that I’m not showing an active interest in Christina is beneath all three of us,I say, facing the Lunas head on.

Anyone who knows them knows that these women have sharp claws. They won’t hesitate to shred you, especially if you go after someone they care about. And right now, they’re feeling very protective of Christina.

So, what’s with all the flirtation,Sylvie asks. I had hoped that she’d be too involved with James to notice, but I should have known better. Both women were excellent Lunas in their time and both care about Christina.

I intend to push Christina this semester. I want her out of her brother’s shadow. I want her to become the Alpha wolf that I know she can be, the same one that I’m sure both of you see in her,I say and watch the two look at each other. They know I’m right.

What does that have to do with your flirtation?Mia asks.

I sigh. That’smore complicated. I’m drawn to Christina. I don’t know exactly what that means, but I want to see how it plays out this semester.

They both glare at me a moment, the tension in the space becoming almost suffocating.

You hurt her, we’ll bring the wrath of the Lunas raining down on you, Alpha Sebastian. So tread very carefully,Sylvie warns me.

We like you, but for her, we won’t hesitate to take you down,Mia

adds.

Understood.

They stare at me a moment longer before Sylvie moves out of my way so I can pass her. Most men and some Alphas would be scared off by what just happened. But I’m not most men. I’m the kind of Alpha that goes after what he wants and what I want is to get closer to Christina..

I make my way back to my room with just enough time to grab a drink. On impulse, I make one for Christina and make my way to the meeting

room car.

Here Alpha, let me get the door for you,Haley says, jogging up beside me and moving past me to get the door.

Hi Haley. How are you doing after earlier? Did our auras stay calm for you?I ask her, checking in to make sure she’s okay.

They did, Alpha, thank you for asking. Everyone is so nice. Alpha Will really helped to calm me down earlier. He was so helpful.

Good, I’m glad. I guess it’s a good thing that you’re paired together this semester.

He said that and I’m so happy to hear it. I think he and I will get along very well, she says.

Who are you getting along well with? Will asks from behind us.

Oh, Alpha, I was just talking about you,Haley says.

Only good things, I hope,he says, smiling warmly at her. She may not be an omega, but there’s something about her that draws me, and Im guessing Will, to protect her. Maybe it’s because she’s young or because she exudes innocence, but she definitely pulls on the protective Alpha instinct in me.

Are you double fisting it tonight, Sebastian,Will asks as we walk in, looking at the drinks in my hands.

Christina is already in the room and when she hears Will, she looks up. I watch her eyes track to the two glasses in my hands and I raise one, silently offering it to her. She smiles and steps away from James to come get it.

Christina and I share a love of whiskey,I say as she comes over and takes the glass.

Thank you, Sebastian. Alpha Will, we have a bar in this room. Would you like another rum and coke?she asks him.

Yes, but I’ll get it myself. I feel like the young Alphas aren’t the only ones who will be learning to be selfsufficient this semester,he says. It’s been so long that it will be good practice for me too.

I can help you, Alpha,Haley says.

That would be wonderful. Thank you, Haley.

I watch as Christina takes a sip, her eyes closing as she rolls the liquid. around in her mouth, savoring it, before she swallows. Once again. I feel my body responding to her in ways it hasn’t in a very long time.

You sure know your whiskey, Sebastian.

Does Dane drink whiskey?I ask her, taking a sip and looking around the room, assessing who we’re waiting on.

Not so much now that he’s got pups. He does every once in a while with me or Harper, that’s his mate, and when he’s with other Alphas. But for the most part, he’s happy to drink whatever his pups are drinking.

I smile, thinking back to the days of raising Ryan. I used to do the same thing with my son. Young Alphas always want to do everything their fathers do, so I made sure I was always doing what I wanted my son to copy.
