I chewed my lip, weighing whether to share my suspicions. “Have you seen Thalia lately?”

Frost looked up sharply. “No I haven’t; why did you ask?”

“I don’t know…” I hesitated, remembering Thalia’s threats. “Forget it

“If you know something, tell me.” Frost’s gaze was intense, seeing to much.

Before I could decide whether to confide in him, his head snapped up, eyes widening.

“What’s wrong?” I asked, instantly alert.

“The Alpha is back,” he said, already moving toward the door.

“What? How do you know that?”

“I can feel his presence; I did tell you, he was in no harm.”

Relief flooded through me, so powerful I felt lightheaded. “Gods. I was so worried.”

We found Kaius in the main corridor, speaking with one of the guards. He turned as we approached, looking tired but unharmed- except for a fresh cut across his cheekbone.

“Well, I was in no harm; Frost would have told you that.” His tone was casual.

“He did, but I…” I couldn’t finish, too busy examining him for other injuries.

“You worry too much. I am fine,” he assured me, pulling me into a quick embrace.

When he released me, I reached up to touch the cut on his face. “What… what happened to you, Kaius?”

He glanced around at the curious guards. “Let’s go somewhere private, shall we?” He took my hand, leading me toward his office. “I’ll explain everything.”

Frost followed, his expression a mixture of relief and irritation. “Alpha. Glad to have you back, but next time if you want to pull some disappearing scheme, make sure you inform her at least; she was dying of worry.”

“I’m sorry,” Kaius said, genuinely contrite.

Once we were in the privacy of his office, Kaius closed the door and turned to face us. “I would have informed you both, but it was necessary I kept this to myself; Thalia was getting very, very nosy. More than once I had discovered her lurking around; it got very… disturbing.”

“Sq Thalia is involved in this?” Frost asked, leaning against the wall.

“Yes, she is actually the center of it all. Elowen was right.”

His words sent a jo trough me. He knew. Somehow, he knew about my suspicions.

“I left the pack when I discovered where Thalia was heading to. She had been behind all the attacks; it turns out she is not as alone

as she makes it seem; she has soldiers and armies under her very command, and all this time, she made us think otherwise.”

“You mean she was behind all the attacks?” Frost straightened, his fatigue forgotten.

“Yes, and she had been the one framing this pack. I’m glad to have put an end to that, it was getting annoying.”

“You killed her?” I asked unsure whether to feel relieved or horrified
