The Alpha’s Borrowed Luna
Chapter 244
1… 1… I couldn’t form coherent thoughts through my horror and grief.
“Say it. Say you want to know how I killed her.” Her voice took on that resonant quality that bypassed my will.
“I do.” The words came out mechanically, forced from my lips by her command.
I ripped her apart slowly, piece by piece,” Thalia said, each word dripping with venomous delight, her eyes glittering with malicious pleasure. “I made sure Kaius would find her body–a distraction potent enough to separate you from him. And it worked beautifully.”
The silver cuffs bit into my wrists as I lunged at her, rage, temporary overcoming my fear. “You monster!”
She stepped back, raising a hand. My body froze mid–motion, held immobile by her control. “Temper, temper. This accomplishes nothing.”
“What do you want from me?” I demanded, straining against the invisible bonds holding me in place.
“Ah, I’m glad you finally asked. Your mission is wonderfully simple. But not yet. I will find you precisely when it’s time for you to act.” She paused at the edge, looking back with cold amusement in her eyes.
“One last thing. I am aware of your little brawl with Kieran, and I would let that pass, but don’t you ever put your life at risk like that ever again, and if you for once think I wouldn’t find you if you ran away, then you are wrong. I would always be watching you, and I don’t care if I have to kill every single person you love to get you back; I would do just that.”
With those chilling words hanging in the air, Thalia contemptuously released the silver handcuffs from my wrists. Fury warred with helpless grief in my eyes as I glared back at her. She met my gaze with pure, smug satisfaction, giving me one final, dominating look before simply vanishing from my sight.
The moment she was gone, my strength gave out, and I slumped to the floor, reeling from it all. Right then, Kaius walked in. I tried to hide my distress, scrambling to compose myself, but it was too late the tears were still hot on my face, and I knew I looked completely undone.
–
“You’re crying.” His fingers brushed my cheek, catching a fresh tear. “What happened while I was gone?”
“Nothing…” I began.
“No, just don’t tell me that; don’t lie to me, Elowen. Something is wrong and you are keeping it from me. What is it?”
I opened my mouth, tried to form the words that would warn him of Thalia’s control, but nothing came out. Not a sound. I closed my eyes in frustration.
“You think I don’t notice?” Kaius continued, his voice softening. “The sudden desperation to tag along everywhere I go makes it seem like you are afraid to be left alone, like you are scared of something, and I want to help you, Elowen, but I have to know what
Elowen.” is wrong to help you; you have to open up to me,
“Just let me be, okay. I am fine.” The words came out harsher than I intended.
“No, you are not.” Kaius’s amber eyes held mine, refusing to let me look away. “Are you sick?”
I am not sick it’s jost. My mind raced. I couldn’t tell him the truth but needed some explanation for my behavior. Something he would believe. “I still think about Rowan.”
It wasn’t entirely a lie. Though Kaius had used his Alpha powers to erase my memory of killing the young wolf, something in me
remembered the horror of it.

Chapter 244
*I thought you had moved past that. Confusion flickered across his features.
I’m willing to do anything to fake my mind off him, but…” I hesitated, then decided to offer another partial truth. “There is something else I didn’t tell you When I left this pack, I had paid a visit to Kieran and I’m sorry I kept it a secret, I was just so furious at him for… everything. Raius, he did this to me, and it had been all for his selfish gain; he said he didn’t want to be alone, and so he made me this monster,
Understanding dawned in Kalus’s eyes. “If you want Kieran dead, all you have to do is say the words. You don’t have to go challenging him on your own.”
‘Soon, Kaius.” I leaned against him, hating the deception but grateful for the explanation he’d accepted.
‘I know you are still trying to recover your wolf back?” he asked, his tone gentle.
“I’m so sorry I didn’t tell you; there had just been so much going on Another grain of truth in my web of lies.
“It’s okay, and you’ll be fine, I’ll help you recover her back. His confidence hurt; he had no idea how impossible this problem was.
