The room was filled with warm hues of light as Bella presented the snacks to Carrie. She spoke with a gentle voice, “Come on, Carrie. Try some. I got it this morning. I was so close to eating it, but I held back because I wanted to share them with you.”

Carrie’s slender figure was resting against the head of the bed. Her skin was fair and smooth like silk, but she looked frail and paler than usual, which was very concerning. She prompted, “Annie, go ahead and eat it if you want to. You don't have to wait for me.”

Bella blinked in confusion. “That won’t do. They were bought specifically for you!”

“Who bought it for me?”

Bella was slightly taken aback by the question. Meanwhile, the perceptive Carrie asked softly, “Was it... Ralph?”

“Yes, Ralph bought it for you.” Bella saw no reason to hide it now that Carrie had figured it out.

“Did he come by?”

Carrie was a very pure person by nature. The thought of Ralph brought a gleam of light into her eyes. “Why didn't you tell him to come inside and sit for a bit after he made the trip here?”
