“But I like Ling Xiaojin more. Mommy, can’t we go with Ling Xiaojin?” the kid begged, her face scrunching up.
“Your elder brother’s name is Yi Qianmo, and so you’ll be Yi Qianjin. Isn’t this nice? Other people will know that you’re siblings after hearing your names. Haven’t you always wanted an elder brother?” Ling Yiran asked.
“Can’t we have my elder brother rename himself as Ling Xiaomo instead?” the girl asked, tilting her head.
“Maybe you can ask him when you meet him,” Ling Yiran said.
“Okay!” Yi Qianjin raised her chin, looking determined.
Qin Lianyi laughed at her goddaughter’s antics. “Do you like the name Ling Xiaojin that much?”
“Yes, I do!” The kid nodded.
“Why? Because you’re used to it? Or do you not want to change your name?” Qin Lianyi guessed.
Before the kid could reply, Ling Yiran said, “She thinks that ‘Yi Qianjin’ is much more difficult to write compared to ‘Ling Xiaojin’ because it has more strokes. She’d agree to change her name to ‘Yi Yiyi’ immediately if we offered the option to her!”
“...” Qin Lianyi wanted to laugh. Her goddaughter was reluctant to change her name simply because it was more difficult to write?
The characters that made up ‘Yi Qianjin’ were truly quite difficult to write for a child, though.
