The Heiress Nobody Saw Coming (Natalie and Marcus) novel Chapter 590

Faced with Cassie's furious screams, Sheldon simply smiled and replied, "You're truly naive. Do you think Mr. Wesley is looking for you to love you?"

As Sheldon spoke, he pulled out a syringe and a small vial. He drew the liquid from the vial into the syringe and stepped forward to inject it into Cassie's neck.

"Mr. Wesley is looking for you for revenge. But I can't let Mr. Wesley or Mr. Marcus' hands be tainted by the blood of someone as filthy as you. So, I'll end this myself."

He then asked, "Cassie, do you know what day it is today?"

Sheldon slowly pushed the liquid into Cassie's neck and continued, "Today is the joyous day of Mr. Marcus and Ms. Natalie getting their marriage certificate.

"It's also the day Mr. Wesley returned home. Both he and Mdm. Laura will be preparing the wedding for Mr. Marcus and Ms. Natalie."

Cassie stared at Sheldon in shock as she realized she could no longer move her body. She couldn't even make a sound.

"The night is long, Cassie. Enjoy this gift I've prepared for you.

"You probably wanted to say that you're Mr. Charles' favorite, and that he'll hate me for this, right? But you're wrong. Not only won't he blame me, he'll even praise me. That's because you're like a ticking time bomb.

"Sooner or later, you'll explode and take down the entire Holden family with you. Now that Mr. Charles is gone, as his most loyal butler, I can't let that happen.

"Cassie, enjoy this. Tonight is only the beginning."

Sheldon put away the syringe and patted Cassie's cheek. "Tricking you to come back took a lot of time and effort. It wasn't easy to hide this from everyone. But don't you worry. After killing you, I'll turn myself in and follow the footsteps of Mr. Charles."

Cassie's eyes widened in fury. She glared at Sheldon, wanting to hurl insults at him. However, she couldn't make a single sound.

She wanted to ask what he had injected into her and why she couldn't move or speak. But she knew Sheldon wouldn't answer.

"Enjoy." Sheldon smiled and continued, "No one knows about this place. Even if you screamed, no one could hear you. But don't worry, I won't let you die so easily.

"At the very least, you'll live until after Mr. Marcus and Ms. Natalie's wedding. Tonight is just the first night. I'll come see you again."

Sheldon packed up his things and stood up. Then, he turned and walked away slowly. When he was at the staircase, he turned off the switch in the underground chamber.

Darkness swallowed the room once more, leaving only the occasional red flicker from a surveillance camera in the corner.

Cassie' hands were still grabbing the cage. She couldn't move a muscle, but suddenly, a slow, reaping pain began spreading from her heart.

The pain was gradual but sharp. Slowly, it amplified in the dark, spreading across her body and multiplying in intensity.

Cold sweat trickled down her forehead. She tried desperately to call for help, but her throat felt as if it was clogged, and no sound emerged.

Her surroundings were dark. Since she was inside an underground chamber, she couldn't see the sun rise or set. She couldn't tell how long she'd been locked in.

All she could feel was the endless darkness.

Slowly, tears streamed down her face, dripping onto her soiled clothes.

The pain stretched on endlessly, torturing her. To her, death had become a distant, unattainable luxury,

The next morning, at 7:00 am, Natalie awoke in Marcus' embrace. She moved her body slightly and sensed discomfort.

Noticing her movements, Marcus opened his eyes immediately.

"Morning. How do you feel?" Marcus' voice was husky.

Natalie nodded, then shook her head. "It's a little unfamiliar, but I'm fine."
