She got out of bed, picked up the clothes from the floor and put them on, then continued sensibly, “Let’s pretend that what happened last night never occurred. After leaving the hotel, neither of us should ever bring it up again. After all, you want to call off our engagement, don’t you, Casimir? “Was what you said earlier truly how you feel? I find it hard to believe…” he asked hesitantly.

Waverly responded with a smile, “Actually, it doesn’t matter if you don’t believe me, because I don’t care. As I said, I’ll have my parents visit your family to break off the engagement. From now on, you don’t have to worry about me clinging onto you anymore.”

“Why did you suddenly change your mind? Especially after what happened between us last night.” Casimir was truly puzzled.

“Because I’ve come to terms with it. In fact, after leaving the Sutherland residence that day, I’d understood everything completely. If forcing it doesn’t bring happiness, then why insist on it?
