342 Chapter 342
342.Chapter 342
‘Wait…‘ Eliza thought, something clicking in her mind as she revisited the issue.
Her gaze landed on Fletcher opposite her. “There seems to be something off about Fletcher.”
The Snow Lotus was his gift, meant specifically for the king. If she hadn’t intervened, it would already be in the king’s hands, and that little black bug might have succeeded in its attack.
“Is he trying to assassinate His Majesty?” Eliza’s face paled in shock. She couldn’t believe Fletcher would dare to go this far. She wondered if he was working with those foreign infiltrators. How else could so many of them show up in Hasen City, let alone infiltrate the Imperial Palace?
Her eyes darkened, a dangerous glint flickering within them.
She pondered, ‘If Fletcher really is involved, then what about the Stonor family, his ally for the day? Do they know about this? Or are they in on it too?‘
“Don’t overthink it for now.” Nolan’s voice sounded again. “With the Snow Lotus already in your hands, even if you accuse them, they’ll deny it outright. They might even turn the tables on you.”
Eliza nodded at his words.
After all, Sophie would jump at any chance to target her. She could be falsely accused.
“Don’t worry about the rest. I’ll handle things here. I still have to report to His Majesty later. Once the party ends, head straight home. I’ll arrange a separate carriage for you.”
Nolan’s concern was clear. The fact that someone had tampered with Eliza’s seat meant she was one of their targets.
By now, her carriage had probably been tampered with.
But Eliza shook her head. “Don’t worry about me. You’ve got enough on your plate. Their parasites are no match for my spiders.”
Her little spiders had already sent her more updates. Every black bug in the hall had been dealt with, and the spiders had even gathered the remains for her research.
Hence, Eliza wasn’t the least bit afraid.
One thing was certain. Those black bugs didn’t stand a chance against her spiders.
Seeing her so self–assured, Nolan felt a bit more at ease.
“Alright, just be careful on your way back.”
