The Lady Nun Seeks Justice (Eliza Stonor) novel Chapter 348

At Saint Grace Nunnery, outside Hasen City, Eliza read prayer scriptures when Sister Sarah rushed in. “Serenity, you’ve got a letter!”

“A letter? Who’s it from?” Eliza asked curiously as she took the envelope.

“I don’t know. The envelope only has your surname on it. Since it’s for you, you must know who it’s from,” Sarah replied with a shrug.

‘My surname?‘

Eliza’s heart skipped a beat. Among the people she knew with the surname Stonor, there were only two possibilities: Lawrence or her dearest friend. ‘Could it be a letter from her?‘

The thought of someone she hadn’t seen in ages made Eliza excited. She quickly sat down and opened the letter. As she pulled out the letter, a faint floral scent wafted out from the envelope.

Unfolding the letter, Eliza found a paper and a delicate pressed flower bookmark tucked inside. Seeing the pressed flower bookmark, a warm smile spread across her face.

Noticing her expression, Sarah couldn’t help but ask, “Who’s it from? You haven’t read it yet, but you’re already smiling so. much!”

Eliza gently held the pressed flower bookmark between her fingers, her smile deepening. “It’s from an old friend of mine, Diana Baker. We exchanged letters before I became a nun, and we’d always include a pressed flower bookmark. It was our little secret code.”

“Ah, I see. No wonder the letter smells so nice even before it’s opened,” Sarah said with a chuckle.

Eliza handed the pressed flower bookmark to Sarah as a token of thanks for delivering the letter.

After Sarah left, Eliza carefully held the letter in her hands, her heart heavy with anticipation as she began to read. It had been so many years since she last saw Diana, not since their heartbreaking separation in the past.

A bittersweet smile appeared on Eliza’s face as her childhood memories resurfaced. Diana had been her only friend, and they shared a bond that could never be replaced.

Back then, Eliza was the cherished daughter of the Duke’s estate, while Diana was the daughter of a highly respected scholar in the court.

Because of their connection with the Padilla family, the Larson family often visited the Duke’s estate. From the moment they were born, Eliza and Diana had been inseparable, playing and growing up together.

But everything changed when Diana’s grandfather was reassigned to a post outside Hasen City. Her entire family had to relocate, and Diana had no choice but to leave with them. After that, their meetings became rare, and they could only stay in touch through letters, each enclosing a flower the other loved.

Eliza vividly remembered that before she was forcibly taken back to the Duke’s estate, she had heard devastating news: the Baker family had been falsely accused of colluding with foreign forces. Evidence was planted in their home, and the entire family, including Diana, was thrown into prison.

She desperately wanted to find Diana, but was dragged to the Duke’s estate. In the end, she never got the chance to see Diana again.

According to her calculations, the Baker family would face that cruel accusation in two and a half years. Eliza had planned to settle her affairs in Hasen City before seeking out Diana. But she never expected Diana’s letter to reach her first.

But in the alternate timeline Eliza foresaw, she hadn’t received Diana’s letter. ‘Was it intercepted by Sophie and the others, or had something happened to Diana?‘

A wave of unease swept over Eliza, and she quickly continued reading. It wasn’t until she was halfway through the letter that she finally let out a sigh of relief, her tense shoulders relaxing.

It turned out the Baker family hadn’t encountered any trouble. Diana had just returned home from traveling with her grandpa and had learned about the events in Hasen City.
