412.Chapter 412
Seeing that he showed no reaction and appeared to be asleep, she let out a small sigh of relief. Without wasting another second, she got up and hurriedly left the room
As the door clicked shut behind her, Benedict slowly opened his eyes, his gaze clear and piercing
Benedict wasn’t the least bit surprised. He’d seen through Sophie’s facade long ago.
Still, it was rare to see her lose control like this, given how she usually played the role of a pitiful and fragile girl in front of others.
A mocking glint appeared in Benedict’s eyes.
Matthew gave up Diana for her, and she turned out to be nothing but a cunning viper, ruthless to the core
Anthony was likely no exception.
After all, anyone who stood in her way was bound to suffer
As Benedict mulled over these thoughts, the sound of footsteps echoed from outside the room
Benedict initially thought Sophie had returned to put on another act, but to his surprise, it was his father, Gabriel “Benedict, I’ve come to see you.”
“Benedict, I’ve come to see you.”
Lately, Gabriel had been making frequent visits to this side of the estate.
He claimed it was to check on Benedict, but it was obvious he was trying to make amends.
Benedict knew exactly why his father was here, and he had no interest in seeing him.
So, the moment he heard Gabriel’s voice, he instinctively shut his eyes and pretended to be asleep
Unfortunately, Gabriel caught him in the act.
He walked over to Benedict’s bedside, towering over him for a moment before slowly sitting down.
“Benedict, I know you’re still angry with me,” Gabriel began, his voice heavy with regret. “But you have to understand. I didn’t have a choice.”
Benedict thought, ‘What a joke. Who could possibly force this cold–hearted man to do anything?
“When I found Sophie, she was wandering the streets all alone. Her mother’s staff protected her, but they didn’t care for her or teach her properly. By the time I brought her back, she was like a stray, living in a crumbling temple and fighting wild dogs for scraps. She was so pitiful. How could I possibly turn my back on her?”
