485.Chapter 485
Anthony then let out a scornful laugh. “You’re afraid to act because you’re worried about retaliation from the Marquis’s estate, aren’t you? Well, do you believe me when I say that if you don’t act now, you’ll die here today?”
The guards were all taken aback and immediately knelt down. “Anthony, we’re sorry. Please, have mercy, they begged.
“Do it kill him, Anthony shouted, throwing the warming pan in his arms with such force that it smashed into the head of one of the guards, causing an immediate and bloody wound. But the guards still dared not rise.
“A bunch of cowards. The Duke’s estate pays you, yet you dare to defy your master’s orders,” Anthony said.
Caleb, who had managed to struggle to his feet, was now trying to escape. He was terrified of Anthony, who had gone completely mad.
So Caleb took advantage of the guards‘ hesitation and Anthony’s immobility to run. He needed to get to the front and call for help. If Gabriel and Benedict arrived, Anthony would surely back down.
But Caleb never expected Anthony to go even more insane. “Fine, you’re all too scared to act, aren’t you?”
Anthony immediately spotted Caleb trying to flee and sneered. “Then drag him out here. I’ll do it myself.”
Anthony pulled out a vial of poison and said to Caleb with a sinister smile, “I’ve recently concocted a deadly toxin. Once ingested, it will cause the victim to suffer excruciating pain, with their intestines and heart rotting away within 15 minutes. Since you’ve come to me like this, Caleb, you’ll be the perfect test subject for my new poison.”
Caleb’s face turned pale with terror as he watched the guards, now wavering under Anthony’s threats, start to rise and move toward him. He immediately began to crawl and roll on the ground, trying to escape. “Help! Gabriel, Benedict, Matthew, Sophie. Come and save me. Anthony’s gone mad. He’s going to kill me.”
“No. Anthony, you can’t do this. Let me go. I’m the heir of the Marquis’s estate. If you dare to help Anthony harm me, none of you will escape,” Caleb screamed with all his might.
Just as Caleb was about to be dragged to Anthony’s side, someone finally heard the commotion.
