499.Chapter 499
Gabriel’s gaze turned icy and sharp, a chilling menace radiating from his eyes.
The last person who had the audacity to challenge him so openly was none other than Nolan, the Prince Regent.
It seems those two have grown far too close. No one knew what kind of ideas Nolan Bennett had been feeding her. Even the abandoned daughter he had cast out now dared to stand before him with such boldness.
Just as Gabriel was about to speak, his other son couldn’t hold back and shouted, “Eliza, don’t get so full of yourself.”
Matthew helped Anthony to his feet, and as soon as he heard Eliza’s words, his anger flared. He stormed up to her, his tone sharp and biting. “Don’t forget. You were once a daughter of the Duke’s estate. Do you think you can threaten us like this without consequences? Aren’t you afraid it’ll come back to haunt you?”
“Enough.” Dale’s voice rang out like a thunderclap as he stepped forward, positioning himself between Matthew and Eliza.
His gaze was icy as he stared Matthew down. “Calling Her Grace by name is a blatant act of disrespect. It seems the Duke’s estate truly doesn’t care about His Majesty or the royal family, just as Her Grace has said.”
“Exactly. Matthew, Anthony, you two have no official titles, yet you dare to act so unruly in front of Her Grace. It’s downright disgraceful,” Caleb chimed in, his chin raised as he taunted them.
“Shut up.” Matthew shot Caleb a venomous glare before turning his attention back to Eliza. His teeth clenched as he spat out his words. “Was I wrong? Eliza, don’t you bear the Stonor name? Isn’t the blood running through your veins ours?”
As soon as those words left his mouth, Eliza moved. She descended the steps, her movements steady and deliberate, until she stood directly before Matthew.
‘No, Eliza is just a young girl. What could she possibly have that makes me feel pressured?‘ he thought to himself. ‘I must be too nervous.‘
