The Lady Nun Seeks Justice (Eliza Stonor) novel Chapter 514

Gabriel shouted, “They’ve all vanished?”

From the moment Sophie fled the Duke’s estate in the early hours, Gabriel had been anxiously awaiting news from the shadow guards.

But after waiting an entire day and night, the first report he received was that the thirty shadow guards he sent had completely disappeared.

Gabriel frowned immediately, asking. “Which direction did Sophie leave the city from?”

He had arranged for people to cover all four city gates, including preparing the carriage, so finding out which direction Sophie left was simple enough–he just needed to ask the gatekeepers.

Once the question was asked, Gabriel’s mind flashed with something. He immediately pressed, “Was it the south gate, heading toward Mount Westin?”

Cyrus, the butler, nodded and confirmed, “Yes, Sophie left from the south gate. I even ordered a carriage to be prepared outside, but it disappeared too.”

The most bizarre part was that while the shadow guards and the carriage had vanished, Sophie, of all people, had returne Though not to the Duke’s estate, she was back at the Marquis’s estate.

And according to reports from the Marquis’s estate, Sophie had returned the day before.

Cyrus relayed all this information to Gabriel

Gabriel squinted, his eyes narrowing. “Did the people at the Marquis’s estate let you see Sophie?”

Cyrus hesitated, then shook his head. “No, they didn’t.”

“So, the report that Sophie returned the day before‘ is just their word, but we still don’t know if she’s truly at the Marquis’s

estate.”

At Gabriel’s words, Cyrus quickly understood. “Shall I go visit Sophie now?

Gabriel raised his hand to stop him. “No need Dale must be hiding something from me. If he doesn’t want you to see Sophie, he can easily make sure you never do, whether Sophie is there or not.”

What mattered now was that Gabriel suspected Dale had already sided with someone else.

“You go. Take my nameplate to the Henderson family. Find Fletcher and deliver this message to him word for word,” Gabrie said coolly. “Tell him, the Queen’s position has been decided. The Baker family will soon enter Hasen City.“”

“Understood,” Cyrus replied, and quickly left with Gabriel’s nameplate to the Henderson family.

Not long after Cyrus met with Fletcher and left, the Henderson family closed their doors to guests.

“What? Diana is going to enter the palace as the Queen?”

After the Henderson family closed its doors, Fletcher had someone call Isabelle back.

As soon as Isabelle entered Fletcher’s study, she was told that the Empress Dowager and the King were planning to make

Diana the Queen.

Isabelle shot up from her chair, exclaiming, “This is impossible! How could Diana ever agree to enter the palace?”

Diana had always lived freely, much more so than Isabelle or Liza. The Baker family had never planned on sending her to the palace, so they hadn’t taught her any palace etiquette. As a noblewoman, her manners and behavior were utterly unfit.

How could someone like her ever be chosen by the Empress Dowager and the King? Not only would she enter the palace, but they intended to make her the Queen?

Fletcher said, “This news came from the Duke’s estate. It’s hard to say whether it’s true, but I suspect there’s a seventy percent chance it’s real.”

“The Duke’s estate sent this?” Isabelle raised an eyebrow. “Could it be that Sophie has set her sights on Diana, trying to harm her, and sent this message to my father?”

Fletcher shook his head. It wasn’t Sophie. The messenger was the Duke’s estate’s butler, and he came with Gabriel’s nameplate.”
