efferson wasn’t completely clueless.
Maybe the Holy Lady was being truthful, but if they spilled everything and revealed Fletcher to her and Nolan, they’d only be digging their own graves faster!
No, they had to stall for time. It wasn’t the right moment yet!
The Malone family was still intact, and his mother was still out there. She would surely come up with a way to save them!
‘Louisa, keep your wits about you! Think back to everything I’ve taught you. Don’t let anything slip! Jefferson silently urged, his heart racing with worry.
Right at that moment, Jefferson was terrified that Louisa might lose her composure and accidentally expose Fletcher.
In the next room, Louisa’s gaze turned sharp and calculating. She fixed her eyes on Eliza and said, “Alright, since you’re so desperate to know, I’ll tell you. The one colluding with the Malone family is…”
She deliberately dragged out her words, letting the tension build, before suddenly raising her voice, “Your father, the Duke of Mowbay!”
‘That’s my girl! Brilliant move!‘ Jefferson nearly jumped for joy when he heard Louisa’s response from the other room. “Yes, that’s it! It’s the perfect answer!‘
It was not just because of Eliza, but also because of Anthony from the Duke’s estate!
Anthony was currently in Woteria, which made Gabriel, the Duke of Mowbay, the ideal scapegoat right now!
Jefferson was absolutely thrilled.
He had nearly forgotten about Anthony, but unexpectedly, his daughter, though unaware of Anthony’s presence in Woteria, inadvertently dragged the Duke’s estate into the mess.
As long as this accusation could be cemented, Nolan would have no choice but to tread carefully around the Holy Lady.
At that point, there might still be room to maneuver!
Eliza’s expression turned icy in an instant.
She stared at Louisa, who was laughing hysterically on the torture rack. “Eliza, bet you didn’t see this coming! The one colluding with my family is your own father! So, what now? Are you going to kill him? If the Stonor family is convicted, you won’t get away with it!”
Louisa was certain this would provoke some reaction from Eliza–fear, panic, maybe even an angry outburst.
But Eliza’s face remained utterly indifferent.
Her breathtaking features were calm, as if she were watching a tedious farce unfold before her.
Louisa’s wild laughter faltered, her confidence cracking as frustration and a dark fury bubbled to the surface.
Louisa roared, “What’s with that look? Who gave you the right to look at me like that? Do you have a death wish?”
“Louisa, don’t be ridiculous. If anyone’s digging their own grave here, it’s you.”
Eliza’s voice was cold enough to freeze the air.
“If you don’t start talking, how many of these torture tools do you think I’ll use on you today?
“You might not fear death, but have you ever thought about what it’s like to wish you were dead? Just like the innocent civilians you slaughtered, the young women you butchered–under these tools, how different do you think you’ll be from them?”
Louisa’s body tensed instinctively, but she quickly forced a smile, her bloodied face feigning innocence. “But I am telling the truth, Your Grace. It’s you who refuses to believe me. Are you afraid of being implicated? Afraid of being convicted alongside them? Afraid that you’ll lose your title as the Holy Lady and even your head?”
Eliza clicked her tongue. She let out a sigh, her expression finally shifting slightly.
