Long Yifan felt his ears were ringing and for a moment he felt the entire world was turning silent.
All he could see was Gu Jin and how confident she looked at that time.
"You can cure her?" Long Yifan asked, his voice tinged with a hint of incredulity.
"Miss Gu," the head butler began, his tone laced with skepticism,
"With all due respect, my young miss has been under the care of the best doctors and healers in the region. If they couldn’t help her, how can you?"
Gu Jin was staring at Long Yifan with a sharp gaze and asked,
"Do you believe me?"
Long Yifan looked at the sincerity and confidence of Gu Jin and said,
"Nope."
Gu Jin: "..." I had expected this but I am still a bit disappointed.
Gu Jin coughed as she said,
"I think before giving your answer you should give me a chance."
Long Yifan shook his head and as he said seriously,
"Miss Gu, till now I have hired 100 Western doctors, 86 Chinese doctors, 90 healers, 77 divine doctors, 120 shamans, 10 medicinal organizations, 40 herbalists, 32 poison masters, 50 ghost exorcists, 60 paranormal experts, 20 black magic practitioners, and 40 psychics."
He paused as he looked at Gu Jin and asked,
"Total of 725 people. Do you what was the common thing that they said?"
Gu Jin pursed her lips.
"No, to be precise what was the most common thing they asked, do you know that ?"
Long Yifan chuckled.
His chuckle didn’t have any joy but bitterness,
"Do you believe me, sir? That was their question. With their question came another line. Believe me, sir. I will cure Young Miss completely!"
Long Yifan laughed as if he was selling some funny joke.
However, it was only he who knew how hurt he was...
The pain of seeing your loved one’s health deteriorating day by day and all you can hope is that one day...one day by some miracle they would be cured...
How foolish.
But the truth is they don’t want to face...the bitter reality in front of them. The reality where the one they loved, spent their time with, and had beautiful memories with, in a day or two would close his/her eyes for eternity...
Only Long Yifan knows how difficult it is to watch his sister die.
Was it painful to see their loved one dead? Of course.
But from Long Yifan’s perspective, an excruciating thing was to watch his sister die slowly day by day and he who had everything could only hug her and console her.
Gu Jin’s expression softened when she saw the bitterness in Long Yifan’s eyes.
How similar. She thought.
However, currently, she can’t focus on her bitter memories and has much more important things to do as she said,
"What if I can identify her illness?"
Long Yifan’s laughter died and he asked softly,
"Um? Sure. If you can identify her illness I would let you treat my sister. And if you can cure my sister completely...then I will owe you."
Was he an idiot for believing a 14-year-old girl? Maybe.
But does he regret it? Nope.
Because at the end of the day, he was a brother who wanted nothing more than his sister to be cured.
The head butler who was about to protest stopped when he heard his young master’s words.
Not many people know but out of 725 people, only 3 were able to identify what illness their Young Miss had, and that was too only after analyzing it for 5 months.
How could a child like Gu Jin identify an illness that even the top doctors couldn’t?
Gu Jin said nothing and sauntered to the girl’s bed.
She bent down and checked the girl’s pulse.
She had already had an idea of what illness the girl was suffering from, now she was just confirming if her guess was right or not.
After 3 minutes, Gu Jin moved away, closed her eyes, and mumbled something.
The head butler was confused by Gu Jin’s action. Long Yifan looked at Gu Jin leisurely.
He was ready to hear a wrong answer or hear some nonsense too.
Gu Jin suddenly opened her eyes and looked at Long Yifan.
The sudden stare made Long Yifan’s heart skip a beat.
Those red ruby-like eyes were brimming with confidence. And for a moment his heart sped up.
Long Yifan had experienced these feelings before.
Hope.
They would give me hope and then dash it. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
