The Mighty Mage novel Chapter 131

Chapter 131: Chapter 131: Break

Zhang Wei asked as he fought the beast,

"Are you alright? Do you want a break?"

He thought that Gu Jin might have been exhausted, so he suggested she take a break. After all Gu Jin wasn’t an advanced-rank mage like them.

He was impressed though, that Gu Jin was able to hold on till so long.

Usually, the intermediate-rank mages can only last 2 hours. Gu Jin was still able to hold for more than 3 hours.

Gu Jin shook her head,

"No need."

Then she took out Vitality pills and energy replenishing pills. Her deleting energy soon recovered by 40% and Gu Jin felt her body turning more energetic.

She passed the pills to Yi Ran and Zhang Wei, who declined,

"No need. I have my own."

"Me too." Yi Ran nodded.

What a joke. Su Jin was an orphan and god knows how he was able to buy artifacts and pills.

It was clear that Su Jin didn’t have money, otherwise, he wouldn’t have been forced to join the mercenary at such a young age.

As for the lodge, they thought it was a one-time thing or maybe Su Jin had some serious cleanliness issues which could be seen from his manners sometimes.

How could they afford to take pills from such a poor person?

Yi Ran and Zhang Wei looked at each other and pity was present in their eyes, however they hid it when they turned to look at Gu Jin.

Unaware of their pity Gu Jin thought that they had a lot of pills by themselves, hence they didn’t take the ones offered by her.

Gu Jin nodded and once Yi Ran and Zhang Wei ensured that she was fine, they left.

Gu Jin continued fighting for the next 1 hour, before calling out for a break.

The rest of the members of Shadow Fangs were tried too and called for a break. The method to ask for a break was to wave a signal flag provided by the counter person.

But even after sending the signal, no one came in their direction.

Zhang Wei and the rest of the members again sent out the signal, but even after the next 20 minutes, no one responded.

Due to the depleted mana, tired physical body, and fighting under the sun for so long, it was becoming difficult for them to hold on.

"Why aren’t the soldiers responding?" Xu Mingtao asked huffing. She was so tired that she could almost collapse.

"Let’s wait for another 15 minutes." Zhang Wei said wiping off the sweat from his face.

He thought that maybe the army was lacking manpower and couldn’t help them for the time being. If they wait for 15 minutes more, maybe they will arrive.

All the members by now had stopped using Magic. Their tired body wasn’t able to bear the burden.

"God damn it! Even the pills are not working." Liu Sunhao muttered.

Suddenly another team just at some distance from them waved a signal flag.

Liu Sunhao shook his head and muttered,

"How pitiful. They might be tired too but because of the lack of manpower they would too not receive help from the army..."

Liu Sunhao didn’t even finish his words when he realized that some soldiers had walked in the other team’s direction.

He was immediately speechless and turned to look at Zhang Wei,

"Leader look! The soldier arrived at one signal from the neighboring team but even when we released the signal 3 times, we didn’t get any response."

Zhang Wei frowned, realizing that their requests for a break were being ignored intentionally.

The fatigue and frustration were palpable among the members of Shadow Fangs.

Zhang Wei’s jaw tightened in anger. "This is deliberate," he muttered under his breath.

However he still tried to give them one chance and said,

"You all stay here, I will ask those soldiers as to why they are not giving us a break."

Zhang Wei marched over to the group of soldiers who had responded to the neighboring team’s signal.

When he reached the soldiers, he addressed one of the soldiers, his tone controlled but firm.

"Excuse me, we’ve been signaling for a break for over half an hour, and no one has responded. Can you explain why we’re being ignored?"

The soldier leader glanced at Zhang Wei with a look of mild irritation.

"We have our orders. Your team doesn’t meet the minimum strength requirements for priority assistance. We’re focusing our resources on teams that can hold the line effectively." freewebnøvel.com
