Jin, I just want to say, that if there is any afterlife or next life, I would want you as my real sister, so that I could dote on you openly."
Saying so he pressed a small kiss on Gu Jin’s forehead.
Gu Jin was shocked to her core.
She always thought that she was all alone and she didn’t have any relatives left, but after hearing that James was her half-brother, she was delighted and even more unwilling to let him go.
Gu Jin hugged James tightly and the moment the helicopter was about to crash, both of them jumped.
Gu Jin pressed the button to open the parachute, however, the parachute didn’t open and Gu Jin became anxious.
Before Gu Jin could think, what was happening, she felt James pressing her head in his head tightly, while pushing away her hand from his waist.
All Gu Jin felt was a powerful jolt, and she felt her world spinning.
When she came to her senses, Gu Jin blinked and saw her brother’s lifeless body beside her, a wave of grief and fury washed over her.
James had used his own body to cushion her fall, sacrificing himself to save her.
"Brother?" Gu Jin called out in a soft voice, hoping everything she was seeing was a dream.
She blinked repeatedly to wake herself up, but the reality gave a hard slap to Gu Jin.
Gu Jin froze and when she finally heard no heartbeat from James’s chest, she sat up and stared at James, without a word.
She said in a soft tone,
"I called you brother. Can’t you wake up? How can you be so cruel to me? I am ready to acknowledge you as my brother, so why are you not responding to me?"
When James remained silent, Gu Jin patted James’s arms and said,
"Wake up! Wake up! You said our dad, asked you to protect me, so why are you not protecting me now?
You wanted to be acknowledged by Dad, right? I will acknowledge you in his place, just...just open your eyes."
No response.
Gu Jin stopped patting James’s arms and finally, she buried her face in James’ chest as she said,
"You know I don’t want to live anymore. Why can’t the fate let me die? Why is it so cruel? Why did you die? You should have thrown me away and let me die instead."
Gu Jin kept on chatting with James.
She talked about all the things she didn’t get to say.
All this while she didn’t shed a single tear.
Like a lifeless person, Gu Jin continued talking. If anyone had saw Gu Jin at that time, they would have thought, she was a robot.
That was the last death Gu Jin had faced.
After that, she became a heartless person.
She didn’t let anyone come near her other than her grandpa.
She also vowed that if one day came when she and her close one were in danger, she would save her close one using the same method.
At least she won’t be left to face the bitter world all alone.
Because Gu Jin and Liu Sunhao were near each other, Gu Jin didn’t hesitate and pushed him inside the safe zone.
She knew that if she didn’t push Liu Sunhao inside, both of them would fall in the crack.
Gu Jin wasn’t worried about falling into a crack. She has a space and could easily survive.
Liu Sunhao was stunned by the sudden push and reached the safe zone when he turned around in horror, he saw Gu Jin blinking at him and then with a whoosh, she fell in the crack.
"Su Jin!" Liu Sunhao screamed, reaching out but failing to grab her.
The others skidded to a halt, desperate to help.
"We have to get him out!" Tang Guan shouted, his voice filled with panic.
Gu Jin on the other had a totally different experience.
To say she was stunned when she saw the terror and horror in Liu Sunhao’s eyes as she pushed him into the safe zone and she instead fell into the crack was truly funny.
It wasn’t like Gu Jin didn’t want to use her magic, the problem was...she was in a state of panic and she wasn’t able to cast any spell.
Gu Jin felt the ground give way, and before she could react, she was falling. The world tilted around her as she plunged into the darkness of the fissure.
"Careful! The ground is unstable!" Zhang Wei warned. He tried to use his earth magic to stabilize the crack, but it was too late.
The fissure widened, making it impossible to reach Gu Jin.
Gu Jin tumbled deeper into the darkness.
She thought about entering her space for safety, but before she could, a strange, shimmering light enveloped her.
