The Mighty Mage novel Chapter 168

Chapter 168: Chapter 168: Grandmother

"Tear mole?" Ying Yue’s face paled.

"Yes." By now Gu Jin noticed the change in Ying Yue’s expression and couldn’t help but ask,

"What happened?"

"Sister...I...." Ying Yue suddenly didn’t know what to say. After a long time when she came to her senses, she said,

"Sister you are sure, right?"

"Yes. But can you tell me why are you so shocked?" Gu Jin was genuinely curious.

Ying Yue softly lowered her head and sighed,

"Maybe...maybe she was my grandmother."

"But didn’t you say that your grandmother died a few weeks ago? How could I see her yesterday?" Gu Jin felt that Ying Yue was assuming things.

Ying Yu shook her head,

"No! She is my grandmother for sure! Do you perhaps remember the clothes she wore when she met you?"

Gu Jin thought for a while and said,

"Hm...She wore a long, traditional robe with intricate patterns. The colors were faded, but it looked quite regal. She had a serene aura about her."

Ying Yue’s eyes filled with tears as she whispered,

"That’s her... That’s my grandmother’s favorite robe. She always wore it on special occasions."

Gu Jin didn’t believe Ying Yue.

If what Ying Yue was saying was true, then it would mean that the person with whom she(Gu Jin) had the conversation was a spirit.

What a joke.

However to not break Ying Yue’s heart, Gu Jin asked,

"Do you have her photo?"

Gu Jin didn’t want to lie to her but she didn’t want to keep her in illusion too, so Gu Jin decided to put a hold on the matter.

Anyways, she was sure that Ying Yue wouldn’t have her grandmother’s photo.

But to her surprise, Ying Yue’s eyes brightened and she said,

"I have it!"

Then Ying Yue opened the small heart-shaped necklace on her neck.

Inside the heart-shaped necklace was a tiny, faded photograph.

Ying Yue carefully removed it and handed it to Gu Jin.

Gu Jin examined the photo closely.

The woman in the picture had a gentle smile and a tear mole on her cheek, and she was wearing the same intricate robe Gu Jin had described. Gu Jin felt a chill run down her spine.

How couldn’t Gu Jin feel a chill, when she was sure that the old woman in the photo was the person with who she had conversed yesterday?

With doubt in her voice, Gu Jin asked,

"Do you think that...she might be alive?"

It was okay if Gu Jin didn’t ask that question but once she did Ying Yue’s eyes turned red and she said,

"I...I personally completed her funeral process."

Gu Jin felt an indescribable sadness when she saw Ying Yue’s red eyes.

"Okay! Okay! I am sorry. I was wrong." Gu Jin accepted her mistake.

If someone from Gu Jin’s previous life, had seen Gu Jin now they would definitely die from a heart attack.

Was this still the cold person who would kill a person rather than apologize?

Ying Yue suddenly hugged Gu Jin and started to cry,

"Wuu...sister Jin...I miss my grandmother a lot! Wuuwuw..."

Even after her death, her grandmother was worried about her(Ying Yue) and communicated with Sister Jin to ensure that she(Ying Yue) didn’t suffer.

How could she not miss such a grandmother?

Gu Jin hugged Ying Yue and patted her back,

"It’s okay to miss her. But let me tell you instead of crying, you should think about how to live a good life. Your grandmother would be worried if she saw you crying.

Do you want your grandmother to continue to worry about you even after her death?"

Ying Yue sniffled, wiping her tears on Gu Jin’s shoulder.

"No, I don’t want her to worry. She always wanted me to be strong and happy."

Gu Jin continued to comfort her, patting her back gently.

"Exactly. So, let’s focus on making her proud."

Ying Yue’s eyes reddened again,

"But how...I have such a body type... even if I want to make her proud, I won’t be able to..."

Gu Jin paused and said,

"That was what I was about to talk about."
